Yoga

With finals approaching and the holidays right around the corner, Honors Students gathered in Goldstein Fitness Center to free themselves of their tensions and stresses by taking part in a yoga workshop.  The workshop was lead by a certified yoga instructor, Ms Laurice Nemetz.

Ms Nemetz worked the students through a series of yoga poses.  She instructed everyone to be aware of their breathing in order to help them receive the full benefit of the yoga session.  She instructed the students to pose in various basic yoga positions.  She encouraged students to challenge themselves at times by trying more advanced poses.  For those who did not feel comfortable with the more advanced poses, Ms Nemetz taught modifications to the poses.  The yoga session provided a great workout for students of all levels of experience.

The workshop closed with a final relaxation exercise.  While the soothing music played in the background, Ms Nemetz guided the students into a state of deep relaxation through a series of breathing exercises.   Allowing the mind and body to relax, the students let go of their stress and frustration.  Many of the students found the workshop to be refreshing, allowing them to clear their minds and focus better on their finals.

For those who are interested in taking part in more yoga classes, there are weekly sessions in the Goldstein Fitness Center offered by Ms Nemetz.  These classes can be taken for credit and/or as a recreational activity.
