On Thursday, April 26, 2007, Honors students filled Butcher Suite for the annual Honors Independent Research Conference. Everyone munched on pizza before the presentations began. Dr. Benton welcomed everyone and introduced each presenter. From 6:00-8:00pm, six Honors students presented on five Independent Research topics that they have been working on throughout the semester.
The presentations were as follows:
· Emily Gornell, mentored by Prof. Howard Weishaus, presented United StatesEnvironmental Policy (2000-2007) .
· Shirley Idumonyi, mentored by Dr. John Horne, presented Stem Cells in the Treatment of Parkinson's Disease.
· Raj Shrestha, mentored by Dr. Robert Isaak, presented Microfinance: Learning from the Failures
· Jessica Sproul, mentored by Dr. Sergey Kazakov, presented Hydrogels as Syntetic Ionic Reservoirs.
· Jamie Mastrangelo and Michael DeRario, mentored by Dr. Peter M. Edelstein, presented
E-nnovation in Law.
The presentations were informative and well-delivered. The topics were varied and creative, making the conference a joy to attend. If you would like to work on your own Independent Research Project, stop by or call the Honors Office.
