Honors Awards Ceremony

Honors Award Ceremony
Thursday, May 15, 2008

On Thursday, May 15, Honors graduating seniors and their guests gathered in the Gottesman Room of Kessel Student Center to celebrate their achievements within the Pforzheimer Honors College. Everyone was dressed to perfection, and the tables were decked out with blue tablecloths and yellow and blue balloons. It was hard to believe that this was still the same Gottesman Room!

After Dr. Benton greeted everyone, President Friedman gave the key note speech. He ended by reminding students that commencement is not an ending but a beginning and told them to keep in mind that college days are some of the best times of their lives, but not the best. There will be more to come.

Following the speeches, the staff members of the Pforzheimer Honors College office were introduced. Dr. Benton gave a personal thanks to graduating students, Nicole Papaioannou and Maria Tomassi for their outstanding work on SCHOLASTICA. Then, the guests were invited to sample a wide spread of foods including chicken francaise and pasta. Two chocolate fondue fountains also awaited them.  When everyone was done with dinner and dessert, Dr. Benton and Prof. Walther awarded the Seniors with their Honors College medallions and certificates. The evening ended with a group a photo.
