Trip to Broadway Play: Shrek: The Musical

Come join the Honors College as we travel into Manhattan to see the world-renowned Broadway play, Shrek: The Musical.  Students will pay $55, which is half of the ticket price, to make their reservation. We will catch the 5:45pm Metro-North train from

Pleasantville.  Students pay for their own train ticket ($17.00 round trip).  The play begins at 8:00pm.

Filmmaker and Honors College alumna 2005, Nicole Prowell, who just earned her Master’s degree in documentary video from Emerson College, produced “Happy Hunting,” a short film about her fascination with the “positive psychology” movement. On the road from Boston to Portland, OR, she interviewed dozens of strangers about their current state of bliss. Nicole will be in attendance to speak about her film. Prof. paul Griffin, psychology Department, will also speak about the growing field of positive Psychology and happiness.

Honors Writing Competition

Entries must be submitted to the Honors Office on the 3rd floor or Mortola Library by Monday, March 30, 2009.

Enter by writing an essay or poem (may include artwork) explaining: “What past Honors event has had the most impact on your life and why?” Essay must be 500 words minimum! Prize: $100 America Express Gift Card and your work will be published in Scholastica!

A New Millennium: Children in Africa Hunger Banquet

Join us for our hunger banquet as we learn about the effects of poverty and hunger on the children in Africa from the United Nations Millennium Development Project.

Tickets may be purchased through the Pforzheimer Honors College for $6. All proceeds will be

Trip to Rockefeller State Park Preserve  Cancelled

Explore the Rockefeller State Park Preserve through a guided hike and tour, listening to a history of the park and an explanation of changes to the preserve caused by human impact.
