Effects of Landmines on Children

Come and join us as we celebrate the launching of a nationwide campaign to enlist university students across the country in helping to clear landmines and prevent their devastating effects on children and families in more than 70 countries around the world. Zach Hudson, UNA/USA project on Adopt a Minefield, will discuss the impact of landmines on children and about the effort that UNA/USA has made to remove landmines around the world

Co-sponsored with the UNICEF C.H.I.L.D. Project, Students in the Keys to Global Peace course, UNA/USA Westchester, Adopt-a-Minefield UNA/USA, the Community Outreach Program of Pace University.

 

UNICEF C.H.I.L.D. Project Halloween Party

Gome to a spooky Haloween party sponsored by the UNICEF C.H.I.L.D. Project.  There will be food, music, and a costume contest; some come dressed in costume.

Tickets cost $5, and can be purchased at the door.  All of the profits are donated to the US Fund for UNICEF.

Explore the United Nations, in the middle of Manhattan
, with a guided tour. Lunch will not be provided, but there will be an opportunity to purchase lunch after the tour.

Worldwide Children’s Issues: Red Cross Presentation

Come hear a representative from the Red Cross speak about the issues facing children today worldwide.

Ms. Andrea R. Grimaldi, Director of the Westchester Red Cross Community Volunteer & Blod Services and Pace University alumna will speak about the need for the Red Cross in today's society.  The American Red Cross in Westchester County, led by volunteers and community funded, is the pacesetter and benchmark for excellence in non-profit human services.  They provide relief to all those affected by disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies, while promoting health and safety in our community.

Human Trafficking Presentation

Listen to a thought provoking presentation by the End Child Prostitution and Trafficking Organization. ECPAT is a network of organizations and individuals working together for the elimination of child prostitution, child pornography, and trafficking of children for sexual purposes. It seeks to encourage the world community to ensure that children everywhere enjoy their fundamental rights free from all forms of commercial sexual exploitation.
