Faculty in Residence (FIR)
Brian Evans is the New York campus Faculty Resident, which is a program that brings a faculty member to live in the residence halls on the New York Campus. Brian is located in Fulton Hall but is a resource for all residents. Brian works with the Housing Prostaff and the RAs to develop programming opportunities for residents. Brian has interests in self-defense, health/exercise/ dinner events/ movie screenings, cultural events, outdoors activities, and volunteer events, among others.
Emily Bent, Ph.D. is the newest addition to the Faculty in Residence program on the New York City Campus. She is Assistant Professor of Women's & Gender Studies with a doctorate in Global Women's Studies from the National University of Ireland, Galway. Emily lives in 33 Beekman with her husband, Tom Scheuren and their rescue pup Shadow. She is a feminist-activist, avid world traveler, and long distance runner; her interests include finding a good cup of coffee, binge watching Orange is the New Black, working with girl activists at the United Nations, and exploring NYC with Shadow. During the academic year, Emily will host essay writing workshops, and provide resume and cover letter assistance; she also plans to organize dinner events with special guest speakers, pancake breakfasts, volunteer opportunities at local animal shelters, apple-picking and other outdoor activities, among others.
