Fall 2014 Room Selection for Current Students

Thank you for your interest in living on campus for the Fall 2014 semester.  The Room Selection process is for our current residents on the Pleasantville and New York City campuses who would like to return to the Residence Halls.  As we near the Room Selection nights, we wanted to make you aware of some pertinent information that you will need to know.  There are four steps in the process that you will need to complete to secure housing for the Fall 2014 semester.  By not completing all of the steps, your housing for the Fall 2014 semester will not be guaranteed.

 Step One: The Housing Deposit

Step Two: Online Application

Step Three: Housing Points

Step Four: Room Selection Nights

Step One: The Housing Deposit

To be eligible to take part in the Room Selection process, you must have a $400 housing deposit on file with the Office of Student Assistance (OSA).  OSA will continue to collect the $400 housnig deposit until March 28th .  Please note that you must have a zero balance on your student account to submit a housing deposit.  Also, everyone on an application for the Townhouses / New Dorm must have a housing deposit on file to be considered a complete application.  When you pay your housing deposit in person, you will receive a housing deposit receipt that you should keep for your records.  You will also receive an e-mail that will have instructions on how to fill out the online application.  If you do not receive the e-mail within four business days of paying your Housing Deposit, please contact Matt Lavery at mlavery@pace.edu

Step Two: Online Application

After submitting a Housing Deposit, you will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to fill out the online application. You will need to fill out this online application using the MyHousing site, even if you are applying for the Townhouses or New Dorm.  Once the online application is complete, your next step is taking part in the Room Selection Night of your choice.  For more information on the online site (MyHousing), click here.  To fill out the online application, click here

For those students who are going to participate in the Townhouse / New Dorm selection process, the online application is your last step online.  Your group would then need to submit this application to the Office of Residential Life no later than March 28th.

Step Three: Housing Points

The Room Selection process takes into consideration your total participation inside and outside of the classroom during the Fall 2013 semester to give you priority for room selection.  Housing Points can be earned in the following categories: Number of Credits, QPA (GPA), Individual Contribution to Community, Campus Involvement, and Community Service.  For the Campus Involvement points, we will be using the rosters that have been submitted on Orgsync.  For Community Service, please complete this form and turn it into the Residential LIfe Office by March 14th.  To learn more about each category and a breakdown of points, click here.

Housing Points will be posted on March 24th by every RA Office on campus.  If you feel that there is an error in your housing points, you may challenge them by filling out this Point Dispute Form.  You may turn in this form in starting on March 24th 1st and you will have until March 27th at 2:00 pm to turn the form into the Residential LIfe Office.  Official Housing points will be posted by every RA Office on campus Friday, March 28th.

Step Four: Room Selection Nights

The last step in the process is determining which type of housing you would like to apply for and participating in the corresponding Room Selection night.  The selection nights and dates are listed here.  Please note how the Room Selection night is being held, if it is a paper application (Townhouses / New Dorm), in person (Singles and Last Chance), or on line using the MyHousing site (Non - Priority Housingl).  To be able to participate in an online Room Selection Night, you will need to have confirmed your roommate(s) on the My Housing site as you will only be able to select from rooms that you can fill. To learn about confirming roommate(s), please look at our My Housing help here.

Once you have completed all four steps, you will have confirmed your room for the Fall 2013 semester as well as your roommate(s).  You will then be given a contract to sign before leaving for the summer.  If you would like to upgrade your meal plan, you can make that change at this time.  If you do not sign a contract before checking out of the Residence Halls at the end of the Spring semester, your assignment will be forfeited for the Fall.

If you go through the selection process and then decide not to return to the Residence Halls for the fall, you could be eligible to have your Housing Deposit returned according to the following table:

Date Received

Deposit Amount Refunded

If agreement release is received by 6/1

$400.00

If agreement release is received by 7/1

$300.00

If agreement release is received by 8/1

$200.00

If agreement release is received by 9/1

$100.00

Current residents should also already have a $100 security deposit on file with OSA.  The $400 can be considered a pre-payment for your first semester room charge.  It will appear as credit on your student account.

For current COMMUTER students the required deposit is $500.  Once paid $400 of the $500 deposit is REFUNDABLE (according to Refund Table above).  The first $400 can be considered a pre-payment for your first semester room charge.  It will appear as credit on your student account.  The remaining $100 is held as a security deposit and is fully refundable as long as there is no damage to your room when you leave Pace.  Commuters cannot select a room on their own.  They would need to be pulled in by a current student.

If you have any questions about the Room Selection process, please talk with your Resident Assistant, Residence Director, or e-mail Matt Lavery at mlavery@pace.edu.
