Blackboard: Proper File Naming Convention Requirements

Due to improper file naming conventions used by some students, instructors will receive a “red banner” error when attempting to view the student’s submitted file. To correct this issue, instructors will need to clear the file submissions, and the student will need to rename the file(s) properly and re-submit.

  • An example of improper naming convention is a file with the title of: Assignment # 7 for CS-101 Lab #6 Chapter #7.doc – There are special characters and spaces which will cause an issue.
  • An acceptable file name instead would be: Assignment7.doc or Cis101Assign7.doc – The title is short and simple with no spaces or special characters.
