Microsoft DreamSpark

Microsoft offers a select list of professional tools to students at no charge!  All you need is a Windows Live Hotmail account and your Pace e-mail account to follow the verification instructions.  Once you have, you can get access to a variety of software such as developer and designer tools.  For more details, please go to http://www.dreamspark.com.

Microsoft Lync

Microsoft Lync is now available for students!

What is Microsoft Lync?

Microsoft Lync provides integrated audio, video and web conferencing as well as business class instant messaging with real time presence information.   Lync has been piloted by ITS and select university adopters and has greatly improved communication and collaboration.  The feature rich conferencing platform provides Webex-like functionality, with the ease and convenience of Microsoft Outlook based scheduling.

How do I download Microsoft Lync?
The Microsoft Lync Client is available for download from the Apps, Downloads and Account Management site (ADAM site).  Log in with your MyPace Portal credentials and follow the instructions.

Why use Lync instead of Google Chat?

Although Google chat is available within your Pace student Google account, ITS recommends that you use Microsoft Lync due to the robust features it offers for online collaboration.  Students can now communicate and share desktop screens easily with each other and their instructors.

IMPORTANT: You can only communicate with Microsoft Lync users at Pace and other institutions who are running Microsoft Lync as well.  We are working towards connecting Microsoft Lync to AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) and Windows Live Messenger. In addition, please note that Microsoft Lync is not currently available for the Law School students.

Microsoft Lync for Mac is now available!
For those using a Mac, Lync now provides a Mac compatible client that you can download from our ADAM site.  Go to http://adam.pace.edu and click on Microsoft Lync.  Log in with you Pace credentials and follow the instructions under the Mac section.
Please note: Make sure to remove Communicator for Mac 2011 as you will no longer need to use that application for Microsoft Lync. Also, please make sure to upgrade Outlook for Mac to Microsoft Office version 14.1.3 by clicking here and following instructions.

Please visit our Microsoft Lync support site for details, documentation, and training videos or to register for instructor-led training provided by Microsoft: Microsoft Lync Training
