PACE-WIRELESS FAQs
Information Technology Services (ITS) is currently in the process of migrating to a new and improved Cisco wireless network called PACE-WIRELESS. This migration will take some time and is being completed in segments over the next year. During this transition period, both the existing and new wireless network systems will be working simultaneously in selected areas until the existing system is completely removed. When roaming between these two networks, users will need to reconnect to the active network in that particular location. The sections below cover the most commonly asked questions about connecting to the new PACE-OPEN/PACE-WIRELESS network.

How do I connect from an iPhone/iPad/iTouch?
- open Settings and select Wi-Fi
The Wi-Fi screen displays:

- select PACE-OPEN
Note: You will be redirected to the guest portal. Depending on the iOS and device, PACE-OPEN system may launch the application without visiting a webpage.

- type MyPace Portal Username and Password in the fields provided and log in

Note: the Device ID field will populate with the MAC address of your device.
To register your device:
- add a description of the device in the Description field (e.g., Joes iPhone)
- click Register
The Install Profile screen displays:

- click Install

- click Install Now
- type your MyPace Portal Password for Wi-Fi account and click Next

- click Done
The Profile Installed screen displays:

- open Settings and select Wi-Fi
- select PACE-WIRELESS
- click Accept for certificate
Note: Connection via PACE-OPEN is a one-time process. Once a device has been properly registered (users can register up to 5 devices) via PACE-OPEN, faculty, staff, and students will be able to connect directly to PACE-WIRELESS by entering their MyPace Username and Password.
How do I connect from an Android?
The Android device will require access to the Internet to access Google Marketplace (or updated as Google Play) in order to download the supplicant agent. This does the auto configuration for your device.
- open settings and select Wi-Fi
- select PACE-OPEN

- open your native internet browser and visit any website
Note: You will be redirected to the guest portal.
- type MyPace Portal Username and Password in the fields provided and log in
The Android will attempt to connect to the Internet and access the Marketplace. The MAC address will automatically populate in the Device ID field.

- type description of your device in the Description field (e.g., Joes Android Phone)
- click Register
You will be redirected to the Google Play Store. Google lists the Android App Cisco Network setup.

- click Install

- sign in to Google and click INSTALL

- click OK
- navigate to the installed app Cisco SPW

Note: Make sure that you are still logged in to the guest portal from your Android Device
- open Cisco SPW
The CISCO SPW screen displays:

- click Start to launch the assistant
The Cisco SPW will begin to install certificates.

When prompted,
- type MyPace Portal Password for credential storage in the fields provided

- click OK
You will be connected to PACE-WIRELESS automatically.

Note: Connection via PACE-OPEN is a one-time process. Once a device has been properly registered (users can register up to 5 devices) via PACE-OPEN, faculty, staff, and students will be able to connect directly to PACE-WIRELESS by entering their MyPace Username and Password.
How do I connect from a Window's phone?
This section contains instructions on connecting your Windows phone to the PACE-WIRELESS network. Windows phones are not supported by the PACE-OPEN application. Thus, your mobile device must be registered manually in order to access Pace resources. IMPORTANT: The connecting device must support WPA2 enterprise encryption.
Step 1: Find the Phone's MAC address
- On Start, flick left to the App list, tap Settings > About > More info, and then note the MAC address.
IMPORTANT: Mac address will be needed in Step 3
Step 2: Connect to PACE-WIRELESS
- open your device’s wireless setup page and connect to PACE-WIRELESS
- type MyPace Portal Username and Password in the fields provided and log in
Step 3: Register your Device Manually
- open your native internet browser and navigate to http://www.pace.edu/mydevices
- type MyPace Portal Username and Password in the fields provided and log in
The Add a New Device page displays:

- type your Device's MAC-Address in the DeviceID field
- add a description of the device in the Description field (e.g., Joes Windows Phone)
- click Submit
Step 4: Reconnect your device from PACE-WIRELESS
- open your device’s wireless setup page and disconnect from PACE-WIRELESS
- open your device’s wireless setup page and reconnect to PACE-WIRELESS
Note: users can register up to 5 devices
I need to connect to PACE-WIRELESS with another device. What should I do?
When connecting a mobile device for the first time, all users should connect via PACE-OPEN, which will automatically configure the network and guest login settings on that device and register it on the network. Each device must be registered in order to get network access. Once registered, your device will be connected to PACE-WIRELESS. Connection via PACE-OPEN is a one-time process and subsequent connections can be made directly via PACE-WIRELESS. The supported browsers include Internet Explorer 9, Firefox 19 and Android Native Browser.
- open your device’s wireless setup page and connect to PACE-OPEN
- launch your Internet browser and visit any Website

Note: You will be redirected to the Pace wireless network login screen.
- type your MyPace Portal Username and Password in the fields provided
For guests signing on to the wireless network,
- type your Guest Username and Password (provided by your sponsor)
Note: Pace University sponsors must obtain a guest wireless account for your visitor on campus by signing on to the sponsor portal page at https://briarise.pace.edu:8443/sponsorportal. Please read information contained in the sponsoring Guest Wireless Access section
- click Login
The Device Registration page displays:

- click Register
The Security Warning to accept certification authority (CA) box displays:

- click Yes to install certificate
Note: Mobile device users follow all on-screen prompts and register your device.
The Cisco Network Setup Assistant box displays:

- click Exit
- type your MyPace Portal Username and Password in the Network Authentication fields
- connect to PACE-WIRELESS when prompted
Note: Apple iOS and Android devices will be redirected to the App Store/Play Store to download the Cisco configuration App.
Note: Once a device has been properly registered (users can register up to 5 devices) via PACE-OPEN, faculty, staff, and students will be able to connect directly to PACE-WIRELESS by entering their MyPace Username and Password.

Which Browsers does PACE-OPEN/PACE-WIRELESS support?
The supported browsers include Internet Explorer 9, Firefox 19 and Android Native Browser. Other browsers may or may not be able to connect to PACE-OPEN/PACE-WIRELESS.
I registered my device. Which network should I connect to?
Once a device has been properly registered, faculty, staff, and students will be able to connect directly to PACE-WIRELESS by entering their MyPace Username and Password.
How do I mark my device as lost?
Instructions in marking your phone as lost:
- Navigate to http://www.pace.edu/mydevices
- type your MyPace Portal Username and Password in the fields provided
- click Log in
Icons represent the status of the devices, such as Pending, Registered, and Blacklisted in the device registration page as shown below.

The status appears pending when you add a device in the My Devices Portal. |

The status appears registered when you connect the device to network, and the device is provisioned with a supplicant and authorized to access the network. |

The status appears blacklisted when you mark the device in the My Devices Portal as lost. You can reinstate the device to its previous status by registering it again through the My Devices Portal that allows the device to access the network. |
To mark a device lost:
- click Lost
Note: When you mark a device in the My Devices Portal as lost, the portal blacklists the device until it is reinstated again through the My Devices Portal.
How do I create a wireless guest account for PACE-WIRELESS?
Pace faculy, staff and students may create guest wireless accounts for guests visiting on campus. Guest accounts come with Internet-only access. Users must connect to PACE-OPEN which will automatically configure the network and guest login settings on their device and register it on the network. Each mobile device must be registered in order to get network access. Once registered, the device will connect to PACE-WIRELESS.
To set up guest wireless access:
The Pace University Sponsor Portal displays:

- type your MyPace Portal Username and Password in the fields
- click Login
Note: For more advanced access (e.g.: Pace temp/contractor accounts), please refer to www.pace.edu/guestaccounts for more details. Users with advanced access guest accounts must connect to PACE-WIRELESS.
The Sponsor Portal Getting Started page displays:

When sponsoring guests you can create and manage their user accounts to provide temporary Internet-only access. The guest access created through this portal provides limited access to only the Internet, Pace.edu, public servers and devices. Guests will not have access to any of Pace University’s internal resources.
Creating a Guest Account
- click Create Guest Account

The Create guest Account window is where detailed information for a sponsor’s guest is recorded such as: name, email address, group role and time profile.
- type guest’s contact information in the spaces provided
- select Group Role in the dropdown menu
- select Time Profile in the dropdown menu
- click Submit
A successfully created guest account screen displays with the guest details and the system-generated username and password.
To notify guest via email:
- click Email option at the bottom of the screen
