* Mac computer users need the Lync 2011 client to communicate with other Windows MS Lync 2010 users. Lync 2011 for Mac is available for downloaded as a standalone application from http://adam.pace.edu.
Can I disable Lync 2010 from automatically starting up?

With Microsoft Lync open, click the Gears Icon on the right-hand side to automatically open the Options dialog box or click and select Tools then Options

Click Personal from the left-hand panel

- Deselect Automatically start Lync when I log on to Windows and Show Lync in foreground when it starts under the My account section

Click OK
Note: Under the section titled Personal information manager, you have the option to make changes to your presence status (which by default is based on your Outlook calendar) and how you want to save your message conversations. Make any desired changes and click OK.
When using a Mac, you must install and use Lync 2011 for Mac, which is fully-compatible with MS Lync 2010.
How do I obtain either the MS Lync 2010 or Lync 2011 for Mac client?
You can download MS Lync 2010 or Lync 2011 for Mac from http://adam.pace.edu. You will need to log in with your MyPace Portal username and password.

You can find plenty of information on using and customizing Lync 2011 by visiting the Lync Help page.
What username and password do I use to log into MS Lync 2010?
You log in using your MyPace Portal username and password.
How do I add a picture portrait photo to my Lync Profile?
- Go to http://whitepages.pace.edu
- Click on Edit Your Info
- Click on Profile Editor
- Log in with your MyPace Portal Username and Password
- Scroll all the way to the bottom and you will see an option to upload your own picture or select your security picture
- Select your desired picture
- Click Save Changes
How do I start an unscheduled online meeting?
- Sign on to Lync 2010

Click options and select Meet Now

- Select your desired meeting audio
- Click OK

Click Invite by Name or Phone Number or Invite by Email

Note: to select multiple contacts, hold down the Ctrl key, and then click the contacts.
How do I start a conference call with multiple contacts?
- In the Lync main window, in your Contacts list, hold down the Ctrl key, and then click the contacts that you want to call
- Right-click any one of the selected contacts, point to Start a Conference Call, and then click Lync 2010
How do I share my desktop or monitors?
- In the Lync main window, in your Contacts list, double-click a contact’s name

When the conversation window opens, click the Share menu

Choose which monitors to share.
Note: whenever you are sharing or presenting, a bar at the top of the window will display :”You are sharing”.
