John Cahill Honored as Alumni of Distinction
John Cahill, Secretary to Governor George Pataki, will be
inducted into the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities
(CICU) Alumni Hall of Distinction. The Pace University alumnus will be
honored at a reception and dinner on Tuesday, March 5, at the
University Club in Albany, NY.
The Hall of Distinction was created to honor noteworthy individuals
who have graduated from one of the more than 100 private colleges and
universities located in New York State.
Cahill received two degrees from Pace, a Juris Doctor in 1985 and a
Master of Law in 1992. In 1997 he was appointed Commissioner of the
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). Two
years later the Adirondack Council named him Conservationist of the
Year.
In his role as Secretary, Cahill works on issues ranging from
health care, to economic development to transportation.
"As a two-time graduate of Pace, John Cahill personifies our
commitment to public leadership and civic competency," said David
A. Caputo, Pace President. "He is an engaged individual, both on
the job as well as in his community."

Founded in 1976, Pace Law School is located in White Plains, N.Y.,
20 miles north of New York City. The School offers the J.D. program
for full-time, and part-time day, and evening students. Its
post-graduate program includes the LL.M. and S.J.D. degrees in
Environmental Law and the LL.M. in Comparative Legal Studies. Pace has
