Robert G. M. Keating Vice Chair of the
Mayor's Committee on the Judiciary

– Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has appointed
Robert B. Keating the new Vice Chair of the Mayor’s Committee on the
Judiciary. Robert B. Keating is currently the Director of the Center
for Judicial Studies at Pace Law School.
As Vice Chair of the Mayor’s Committee, Robert B. Keating will
submit recommendations to Mayor Bloomberg for appointments to the
Family Court and the Criminal Court, and interim appointments to the
Civil Court. Keating was selected to this position due to his
exceptionally distinguished and prestigious career and unparalleled
knowledge of the courts system and what qualities the best judges
possess.
He brings these same qualities to his role as Director of the
Center for Judicial Studies at Pace Law School. The Center for
Judicial Studies will help the New York Unifies Court System analyze
societal, technological and legislative changes that impact on
judicial performance.
The Center for Judicial Studies was created as an academic and
research partner for the State Judicial Institute—the first judicial
training and research facility in the nation built by and for a state
court system, housed at Pace Law School. This past October, Governor
George E. Pataki and Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye joined with state and
local officials celebrated the groundbreaking of the Judicial
Institute, which is slatted to open in early 2003.
Keating is currently the Director of the Center for Judicial
Studies and a Distinguished Scholar in Residence at Pace Law School.
Since 2000, he has severed as Chairman of Management Techniques Inc.
Prior to that, he was partner at Keating & Klein, PC, and Senior
Executive Vice President at Complete Management Inc. He is also a
former Judge of the New York State Court of Claims, Administrative
Judge of the Criminal Courts and Supreme Court in Kings County,
Criminal Justice Coordinator for the City of New York under Mayor
Koch, and Chief Assistant District Attorney in Kings County. Keating
received an LLB from Duke University and an AB from Georgetown
University.
Founded in 1976, Pace Law School is located in White Plains, N.Y.,
20 miles north of New York City. The School offers the J.D. program
for full-time, and part-time day, and evening students. Its
post-graduate program includes the LL.M. and S.J.D. degrees in
Environmental Law and the LL.M. in Comparative Legal Studies. Pace has
