Pace Law School and Habitat for Humanity of
Westchester
Join Forces to Develop the First House Built by Lawyers
White Plains, NY, March 1, 2004 - On Thursday, March 3rd
Pace Law School in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of
Westchester and a number of law firms will be kicking off the first
lawyers’ house to be built by lawyers and members of the judiciary
with a luncheon at Pace Law School in White Plains.
Law firms such as Kent Hazzard, Griffin, Coogan & Veneruso,
Willkie Farr - to name a few, will be joining to contribute both their
labor and a donation towards the cost of a house while signing up for
team building days.
"This is a great opportunity for law firms in the New York
area to get out, have a great time and do community service,"
stated Jim Killoran, Executive Director of Habitat. "We have
firms, both large and small, as well as district attorneys, judges and
interns all joining in the fun."
Dean David Cohen added, "Pace Law School is privileged to be a
partner with Habitat for Humanity in creating a vehicle for members of
the legal profession, our alumni, faculty, staff and students to
contribute funds, legal expertise and yes, hard labor, to help others.
It exemplifies the commitment to public service and professionalism
that characterizes our community".
In Westchester County 80,000 people go to bed at night in
substandard housing. Habitat creates decent, simple, affordable home
ownership for those helping to run our towns and cities and works
toward ending poverty housing. By joining Habitat to build a house,
individuals have an opportunity for teambuilding and networking, and,
more importantly, to help change a family’s life.
