The month of October celebrates LGBT history month, which includes National Coming Out Day, a day where LGBT people across the country embrace their coming out experience and support others as they go through the coming out process.

The LGBTQA & Social Justice Center held a fair in honor of National Coming Out Day this past Thursday Oct. 11. The front of One Pace Plaza was packed with pride as the university’s LGBT community and their supporters came out for the fair. This year’s Forum features more speakers and panels than last year, including a number of Pace students and alumni—who will be forgoing soaking up the sun over spring break (which is taking place at the same time.) Alumna and counseling center staff member Kelly Herbert, who heads up Pace’s LGBTQA Task Force will be presenting, and alumna Ashley Marinaccio ‘07, will be speaking of the power of theater to bring about social change. Numerous Pace professors will also be addressing an array of issues—both social and political—and the effects these issues have around the world as will Pace students in a panel on From Silence to Solidarity: Unpacking the Silence and How to Break It.
An Art Exhibit called, “Building a Center,” has been erected in 41 Park Row to commemorate the literal building of the University’s first ever Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer and Ally (LGBTQA) and Social Justice Center.
