Gender Neutral Bathroom Locations

Single Stall Gender Neutral Restrooms on Pace Campuses. 

Terminology:

Gender Neutral Restroom: A restroom that anyone, regardless of their gender can use. This can be single or multi-stall.

Multi-Stall Restrooms: A restroom with multiple toilets and/or urinals.

Single Stall Restrooms: A restroom with only one urinal and/or toilet that is meant to be used by only one person at a time, unless that person is being accompanied by a parent, family member, and/or an attendant.

Accessible Restrooms: To comply with necessary specifications the restroom must have a grab bar (mounted on side wall next to the toilet), a clear circle of at least 60 inches to allow a wheelchair to turn (the door can swing into this circle), 36 inch wide doors, and the sinks shouldn't be mounted higher than 34 inches from floor and should have a knee clearance of at least 27 inches high, 30 inches wide, and 19 inches deep.

Accessible Multi-stall: A restroom with multiple toilet stalls with one or more stalls that comply with the accessible restroom specifications listed above.

Accessible Single Stall: A restroom that has only one toilet that is meant to be used by only one person at a time, unless that person is being accompanied by a parent, family member, and/or an attendant and is compliant with the accessible restroom specifications listed above.

Accessible ADA compliant restroom: The restroom has an option for the door to open automatically when you press a button, as well as complies with accessible restroom specifications listed above.

 

NYC ADMINISTRATIVE/CLASS BUILDINGS

1 Pace Plaza

C-Level (gym):

No gender neutral bathrooms or locker rooms.

B-level:

Two Gender Neutral Single Stall accessible bathrooms (located behind auxiliary services on East Side at spruce street entrance). When you are looking at the bathrooms, the one on the right is for ADA use (meaning it has an option for the door to open automatically when you press a button).

1st Floor:

One single stall gender-neutral bathroom. (W111) Clearly labeled as accessible for people with disabilities.

Library

No accessible bathrooms or single stall bathrooms on 2nd floor of library

2nd Floor (West-Side of building)

No Single-stall or gender neutral bathrooms.

Accessibility is limited.

Male bathroom near elevator is not accessible. Male bathroom near LHW the wheelchair accessible stall is too small.

Female Bathroom near elevators is not accessible. Female bathroom near LHW has visible signage but no space to maneuver chair.

3rd Floor

No single-stall or gender neutral bathrooms.

4 multi-stall gender segregated bathrooms  (1 male/1 Female on west side; 1 Male/ 1 Female on east side)

Accessibility Limited

West side bathrooms are not accessible

East side bathrooms have no private stall with bar, the double door entrance to male bathrooms is hard to maneuver.

4th Floor-6th Floor

No single stall accessible or gender neutral bathrooms

156 William Street

There are two floors used by Pace University: 5 (McShane, Alumni Development, Human Resources, Legal counsel) and 8 (Counseling Center and Disability Services).

No single stall or gender neutral bathrooms, not accessible

163 William Street

There are 13 floors used by Pace University: 4-6, 11-18, 20, & 21.

11 single stall gender-neutral accessible restrooms. One on each of the following floors: 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21

No single stall gender-neutral accessible restroom on 16, 17, or 18.

41 Park Row

1 locked single stall gender neutral bathroom on 10th floor near Schaeberle Theater that is Wheelchair Accessible. Must get key at security desk on 1st floor.  Floors 2-16 alternate between male and female multi-stall gender segregated bathrooms (female bathrooms locked, access by key only).

 

NYC RESIDENCE HALLS

Maria’s Tower

2 Single Stall Gender-Neutral Bathrooms and 1 Single Stall Shower on floors 15, 16 and 17 for community use.  At least one of these single stall bathrooms on each floor is accessible. All single showers on these three floors are accessible.

Two to three rooms on the 5th floor have private restrooms in the rooms.

Floors 4-12 & 14 are all multi-stall gender segregated bathrooms with two communal showers in each.  Not structured for students with wheelchairs.

106 Fulton Street

All residences have private restrooms and showers.  Room Numbers 404 and 504 are single occupancy resident halls and are ADA accessible for people with mobility disabilities.  Floors 6-15 are not space accommodating for wheelchairs.

John Street

All bathrooms are in-room private facilities

One single-stall private bathroom on 1st floor (marked accessible); limited access (for residents and their guests)

182 Broadway

All bathrooms are in-room private facilities
All bathrooms in 11 and 12 rooms on each floor are accessible (private facilities)

33 Beakman

Private baths in all dorms. Gender-neutral single stall restrooms on the 1st floor.

No single stall or gender neutral bathrooms.

No single stall or gender neutral bathrooms

1 gender neutral single stall bathroom, next to the gym.

1 gender neutral single stall bathroom in the basement.

Art Room

1 gender neutral single stall bathroom located on the second floor. There is no sign.

Financial Aid/OSA

1 gender neutral single stall bathroom located on the 1st floor.

Goldstein Academics

No single stall or gender neutral bathrooms

Library

No single stall or gender neutral bathrooms

Choate

1gender neutral single stall bathroom located on the 1st floor.

 

PLEASANTVILLE AND BRIARCLIFF RESIDENCE HALLS

Martin Hall, North Hall, Townhouses, Dow Hall, New Dorm Hall and Howard Johnson Hall

These resident halls do not have public gender-neutral single stall restrooms or showers.  However, private restrooms and showers exist for residents in many.

Martin Hall & North Hall

These halls only have community style bathrooms with multiple stalls and showers.

The Town Houses

Town Houses have 2 private stalls and showers per house for residents only.

Dow Hall or New Dorm Hall

There are no public gender-neutral single stall bathrooms or showers in Dow Hall or New Dorm Hall.  These are suite style rooms that have one private single stall bathroom and shower per room for residents.

Howard Johnson Hall and Valley House

There are no public single stall gender-neutral bathrooms or showers. These halls only have community style gender segregated bathrooms with multiple stalls and showers.

Hillside House

There are 2 single stall gender-neutral bathrooms and showers (1 in each first floor section). However, these are locked. There are no other community use single stall bathrooms or showers in this hall.

NEW PLEASANTVILLE RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS

The new residential buildings that are being constructed have private bathrooms in each dorm, in addition to a gender-neutral bathroom on the 1st floor reception area.
