Our Mission:

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Asexual and Ally (LGBTQA) Social Justice Center exists to create campus environments that are inclusive and supportive of student, staff, and faculty diversity in the areas of sexuality and gender identity and expression. The office promotes identity expression, self determination and exploration on all levels for all members of Pace University through advocacy, education, activism, programming and a commitment to social justice.

Functions of the Center:

  • Serve as a clear and visible sign of university-sanctioned support for the LGBTQ and ally community. 
  • Create a welcoming environment for all people interested in developing their understanding of LGBTQ and ally issues.
  • Advocacy, activism and community building with a focus on diversity, multicultural issues and social justice
  • Education and outreach on the isolating impact of gender and sexuality norming.
  • Help students, staff and faculty to build conscientious communities of care, inclusion, support, and trust.
  • Recognize and explore the differences in ability, age, ethnicity, gender, health, language, national origin, race, religion, and socioeconomic among the LGBTQ and ally student, staff and faculty population.
  • Celebrate how differences in the LGBTQ and ally student staff and faculty population can enrich campus and local communities.
  • Provide direct service to LGBTQ students, staff, faculty and their allies in the forms of advisement, advocacy, career networking, referral services, education and training, event sponsorship and co-sponsorship, leadership development, and peer mentorship programs.

Volunteer and Internship Opportunities: 

The Center was built through the volunteer efforts of the Pace Community. Students, staff, faculty and alumni dedicated their time to creating this space and advocating for staff and programatic funds. This Center Functions on the principle of Social Justice and a shared interest in Community Wellness and Health.  Students are welcome to inquire about volunteer and internship opportunities with the Center. Join the LGBTQA & Social Justice Center for a Discussion Series for trans* individuals and our cisgender allies. Trans* encompasses the many diverse identities that exist under and outside of the transgender umbrella. This includes but is not limited to: transgender, genderqueer, agender, genderless, genderf*ck, third gender, two spirit, bigender, and non gendered.  Several of the conversations will be facilitated by J-Mase.

Join a discussion group for bisexual pansexual & non-monosexual identified people who are looking for a safe space to meet, mingle & discuss their experiences and realities.

Are you thinking of coming out?  Questioning?  Always coming out?  Wondering if you should come out?   Are you dating someone who is not out?  The LGBTQA & Social Justice Center, will begin our Coming Out Group to discuss various issues and realities associated with the ongoing process of coming out.If you are interested in joining this group, sign up is required and space is limited, so please contact: Kelly Herbert @ kherbert@pace.eduto learn more about the group.
