- Intended for both the traveler and the travel professional, this

annual reports, and more. Coverage varies from company to company.

- In addition to industry information, also provides access to company
information including business summary, financials, competitors, stock
reports and news.

- Arranged by industry or topic, this is a good starting point for
finding a list of trade associations, specialized journals, statistics
sources, internet sites, and databases to consult.

- This service is divided by industry. Each industry survey gives
an overview of the industry, a forecast with discussion, and a list
of the top companies within the industry along with ratios and other
statistics for both the industry and individual companies. See specifically
the area of “Lodging and Gaming.” Note the online
database also includes a Sub-Industry Review of the area "Hotels,
Resorts & Cruise Lines."
- Dun and Bradstreet/Gale Industry Handbook
Ref Reserve HF5035 .D86 2000 (vols. 1-5; vol. 4 is Entertainment and
Hospitality)
- This handbook series has sections which give an industry overview,
industry statistics, financial norms, a company directory, ranking,
mergers and acquisitions, associations, consultants, trade information
sources, and the trade shows.

You can access subscription research databases from the library home page. Click on Articles via
Databases, then use the menus to select your databases.
For articles on topics within the area of hotel management, and possibly
articles about the specific hotel you are researching, try the following
databases:
- ABI/Inform
- Abstracts and indexes over 1,000 management, marketing and
business journals from 1971 to the present. Also includes Full Text
coverage of more than 500 major publications from 1991 onward, including
Lodging Magazine.
- Business
and Company Resource Center
- In addition to general company information such as company
history and financial data, this database also provides access to
articles published about specific companies on certain topics including
"management," "people," "sales & marketing,"
and "strategy & planning." Coverage varies from company
to company.

- Focusing on hard-to-find local and regional business news coverage
of large corporations, privately held companies, local start-ups,
executive profiles, marketing, finance, and industry news. Provides
access to business information not typically found in national news
sources. Contains news and analysis, information on local markets,
and more gathered from major business tabloids, magazines, daily newspapers,
wire services, and city, state, and regional business publications,
including Crain's New York Business.

this database provides access to the journal Hotel and
Motel Management from 1993 to the current issue.
- Lexis-Nexis
Universe
- Access to the full-text of newspapers worldwide - and locally
- most publications updated daily. Perform a News search,
then select U.S. News, then Northeast Regional
Sources to search New York newspapers. Also provides access
to industry and business periodicals; perform a Business
search, then select Business News or Industry
& Market (try the "Leisure news" category or
"Travel, hospitality & leisure news" category.

- Index and abstracts to the journal literature and book chapters
in the field of psychology - a good resource for locating articles
on personnel psychology.

- Search more than 750 business periodicals and newsletters with a
trade or industry focus, including titles such as Hotels,
Hospitality and Hospitality Design.
