Tables offer demographic profile of every country. Information includes geography, population, identity, vital statistics, households, economics and labor, transport, health & healthcare, education and communications.

Europa World Yearbook    Birnbaum Ref Reserve JN1.E85 Vols. 1 & 2
Information on over 250 countries that gives an introductory survey of each country followed by an economic and demographic survey and then a directory section.

United Nations Statistics Division     http://unstats.un.org/unsd/default.htm
The Statistics Divison compiles statistics from many international sources and produces global updates. Unrestricted free access is provided to selected global datasets.

World Factbook    Birnbaum Ref G122.U56a
Facts and information about almost everything. Snapshot information on all the countries. The 2005 edition is available online at http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/. Compiled by the CIA.

Worldmark Encyclopedia of the Nations    Birnbaum Ref G63.W67 (Vols. 1-5)
Information given on the countries includes: location & size, climate, plant life, environment, ethnic groups, languages, religions, transportation, history, government, political parties, local government, judicial system, labor, industry and more. Coordinates with the Worldmark Encyclopedia of Cultures and Daily Life.

Get a free 60 day trial to the International Financial Statistics by clicking on publications and then registering for a free trial. The IFS documents are also available in the Birnbaum Library's Periodical Department on the second floor of the library.

Retail Trade International    Birnbaum Ref Reserve HF5429.R48 (Vols. 1-7 and contents)
Gives detailed statistics and numbers on all sorts of retail trade for each country. Headings include: macroeconomic factors, retail sales, retail infrastructure, key retailing issues, retail business, food distribution, non-food distribution, major retailers and an overall outlook.

Short section on individual countries include: trade opportunities, tariffs, risk factors, negotiating styles, investment climate, protocol, and cultural tips.

Encyclopedia of the United Nations and International Agreements   Birnbaum Ref JX1977. O8213 (vols. 1-4)
Alphabetical organization by topic. For each country it includes an overview history or the country and it's relationship with the UN and  individual entries for treaties and agreements with other countries.

Exporters' Encyclopaedia   Birnbaum Ref HF3011.E9 and Fact File supplement
Material is arranged geographically. Each country is profiled and information is given on: marketing data, communications, transportation, business travel, key contacts, and a summary of trade regulations and documentation required. 

Foreign Labor Trends    Birnbaum Ref Reserve HD4802.F67 (multi-volume)
Organized in notebooks. Each country has it's own section, published by the US Dept. of Labor that includes different information. The majority of the countries include information on the economy, labor markets, wages, government and recent legislation and appendices with additional information. Some also are available via the DOL website at http://www.dol.gov/ILAB/media/reports/main.htm

Published every other year and organized alphabetically by country with major categories of information including: old age, disability and death, sickness and maternity, work injury, and unemployment. Finding Books in the Pace University Library

You can find other books on your topic by searching the online Pace Library Catalog by Keyword or Library of Congress Subject Heading.

Unless you know the Subject Headings that pertain to your topic, you may want to begin with a Keyword search. 

Once you have found a source that you find useful, look at the Library of Congress Subject Headings towards the bottom of the catalog record to determine the best terms to use in a Subject search for further materials.

Finding Current Articles in Management Journals

To access databases through the Pace Library, go to the library home page (http://library.pace.edu/), click on Databases, and use the pull-down menu labeled "Subject Research Area" to select Business.  You may also choose a specific database from an alphabetical list.  Use the databases listed below to find citations and abstracts, and in some cases full-text journal articles. Pace E-mail and Password required for off-campus use.

ABI-Inform
Abstracts and indexes over 1,000 management, marketing and business journals from 1971 to the present. Also includes Full Text coverage of more than 500 major publications from 1991 onward.

Business and Company Resource Center
This database contains company profiles, company brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies, and periodicals. Search this database to find detailed company and industry news and information.

Business Source Premier   
provides full text for over 2,710 scholarly business journals covering management, economics, finance, accounting, international business and much more

Lexis-Nexis Universe
Lexis-Nexis Universe offers full-text publication of news, business, legal, and medical information.  In the Reference section look for: Country Profiles from CIA World Factbook and Walden's Country Reports. 

Citing Your Sources

Once you have finished your research and written your paper, you will need to prepare your bibliography and cite any sources you have referenced within the text. Please check with your instructor if you are unsure of which citation style to use.
