Hoover's Online
Provides industry and company profiles for approximately 14,000 companies worldwide.  Company profiles include a brief history of the company, the names of the top executives in the company, a list of key competitors, industry snapshots, and some key financial data about each company. International Directory of Company Histories    Birnbaum Ref Desk HD2721.I58 (vols. 1-58)
This multi-volume, ongoing set, describes company histories in detail. Entries include company goals, marketing strategies and a bibliography. Check the index in the most recent volume to identify which volumes contain your company. As company information changes, updated articles are added. Annual Reports and 10Ks
Company annual reports often discuss the current goals and strategies of a company, while 10K forms detail financial data.  Check the card file in the hallway to identify the location (either in the hallway or on reserve) of these documents in the library.  Some annual reports are also available on microfiche in the Birnbaum Library.  To find these reports, please consult the Pace Library Catalog.  Recent annual reports are frequently available on company web sites.  For financial documents, try Lexis-Nexis Universe (select Business) or Mergent Online from the Business Databases list, or the EDGAR database, accessible on the SEC web site at http://www.sec.gov/edgarhp.htm.

The Statistics Division compiles statistics from many international sources and produces global updates. Unrestricted free access is provided to selected global datasets.

Dun & Bradstreet's Guide to Doing Business Around the World    Birnbaum Ref HF1416.M78 2001
Short section on individual countries include: trade opportunities, tariffs, risk factors, negotiating styles investment climate protocol and cultural tips.

Encyclopedia of the United Nations and International Agreements   Birnbaum Ref JX1977. O8213 2003 (vols. 1-4)
Alphabetical organization by topic. For each country it includes an overview history or the country and it's relationship with the UN and  individual entries for treaties and agreements with other countries.

Material is arranged geographically. Each country profile includes marketing data, communications, transportation, business travel, key contacts, and a summary of trade regulations and documentation required.

The majority of the countries include information on the economy, labor markets, wages, government and recent legislation and appendices with additional information.

Finding Books & E-books in the Pace University Library

You can find books on your topic by searching the online Pace Library Catalog by Subject or Keyword.

  • Unless you know the subject headings that pertain to your topic, you may want to begin with a Keyword search using the name of your country and an additional search term (e.g. "thailand and marketing").
  • Once you have found a source that you think might be useful, look at the Library of Congress Subject Headings towards the bottom of the catalog record to determine the best terms to use in a Subject search for further materials. Some useful subject headings might include:

    • International trade Competition
    • International Corporations, foreign -- [country name]
    • Investments, foreign -- [country name]
    • [country name] -- economic condition

Abstracts and indexes over 1,000 management, marketing and business journals from 1971 to the present. Also includes Full Text coverage of more than 500 major publications from 1991 onward.

Business and Company Resource Center

This database contains company profiles, company brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies, and periodicals. Search this database to find detailed company and industry news and information.

Business Source Premier

Provides full text for over 2,710 scholarly business journals covering management, economics, finance, accounting, international business and much more.

Lexis-Nexis Universe

Full Text database of news, business, medical and legal resources, including highly specialized trade journals, leading national and international newspapers, SEC documents, state and federal statistics and case law.

Finding Additional Web Sites

The Pace Library maintains lists of high-quality resources in various subject areas.  To find these topical lists, go to the Pace Library home page (http://library.pace.edu), then click on Reference Resources.  Use the pull-down menu provided to select a subject research area.  For international marketing research, select the Company/Industry, International Business, International Marketing, International Trade or Country Information categories.
