This site gives definitions for civic engagement, service learning, community service. You can also see what other colleges and universities are doing..- Community Service Society of New York: "is an independent, nonprofit organization that for more than 150 years has helped New Yorkers in need to defeat the problems of poverty and strengthen community life for all." The CSS describes their Services to Individuals and Families as well as Services to Communities on this site.
- Project Vote Smart: This site describes itself as "a citizen's organization dedicated to serving all Americans with accurate and unbiased information for electoral decision-making." You can use the site to look up candidates and elected officials by name or zip code. The information on each individual includes biographical information, issue positions, voting records, as well as campaign finances and special interest group ratings by issue.
- Volunteermatch.org is a nonprofit, online service that helps interested volunteers get involved with community service organizations throughout the United States. All you need to do is enter your zip code to find volunteer opportunities in your area.

- The Library has created a web site focusing on Researching Federal Legislation for NUR 620 classes. To see some Nursing Organizations that provide not only position statements about current health legislation, but also sample letters for activists to use when writing to their representatives.
- The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching is "a major national and international center for research and policy studies about teaching. Its mission is to address the hardest problems faced in teaching in public schools, colleges and universities—that is, how to succeed in the classroom, how best to achieve lasting student learning, and how to assess the impact of teaching on students."
