Searching

The advanced search box allows you to search for keywords in the author, title, all text, of articles, reports or profiles. Click on Select a Field to search for keywords in only a specific field of the article. Otherwise, the database will default to look for your keywords in the citation and abstract of articles and reports.

Limting Your Search

Further down the screen you can specify search limits: only full text, only scholarly journals, specific date ranges, and a variety of specific document types.

Managing Results

Once you search for keywords, you will be directed to a result list which will display the most recently published items first. You may change this to relevance from the Sort by: drop-down menu. This will place items with the highest occurences of your keyword(s) first.

Browsing

On the right side of the screen you will see a list of items in the database which you may browse. The top choices are Subjects, Authors, Cited References and Indexes. The other choices are all related to specific document types. By choosing top browse you will be sent to a browsable alphabetical list of all items in the database that meet a particular type of search criteria or dcument type. For example, by clicking on Authors you will be sent to an alphabetical list of all the authors of articles, documents, or books in the database. By clicking on Academic Journals you will go to an alphabetical list of all the academic journals in the database.

Subjects
Click on Subjects to see a list of subjects used to describe articles in the database. This feature may be helpful if you are having difficulty locating articles that are about what you want. It will help you find appropriate keywords to use in a search.

Cited References
Some records in the database, particularly scholarly journals, may have a link below the citation to Cited References.

Clicking on the Cited References link will show all the articles, books, etc. referenced in the article. It will also indicate how many times specific items have been cited by articles in the database.

Company Profiles
Click on Company Profiles to access over 10,000 substantial company profiles and 1,600 industry reports from Datamonitor. These reports and profiles are available in PDF format via Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Click on the Search History/Alerts tab to see a list of the searches you have performed while in the database. This can be helpful, if you have a result and then lose it. You can also save searches and create alerts using an EBSCO account. This is described below.
