DATABASES

To access these databases please go to the Pace Library home page (http://library.pace.edu)  or use the links provided on this page. Click on Articles via Databases and choose Business from the Subject Research Area drop-down menu.

  • Business & Company Resource Center  --  Contains investment reports, company profiles, company histories, rankings and industry overviews. This database is organized by company name. You can also search for all companies in a given industry and/or geographic area.

  • Business Source Premier  --  Search for articles or click on Company Profiles for information on individual companies.

  • Hoover’s Online  --  Search by company name to locate a company's web page, address, most recent sales figures, and a list of a few key competitors. Use the industry search to locate a multi-page industry profile with links to the home pages (when available) of an industry's trade publications and associations.

  • Lexis-Nexis Universe  --  Full-text database of news, business, medical and legal resources, including highly specialized trade journals, leading national and international newspapers, SEC documents, state and federal statistics and case law. Allows you to search today's news for a particular company or industry.

  • Mergent Online -- Best Features: The advanced search feature allows you to limit your search to companies by number of employees, state, city, region, and more. This database contains information on the following:
    - 10,000 public companies, including current and historical annual reports, their SEC filings, as well as current press releases and news about the company.
    - Also included is International Company Data on more companies from more countries than any other international database, including timely annual reports.
    - Click on "Enter Mergent Online" in the upper left hand corner to access the database.

  • NetAdvantage  --  Company and industry information from Standard and Poor's. Also includes the Register of Corporations, Directors and Executives (searchable by schools attended).

  • Regional Business News -- This database contains business news from regional publications such as:
    Crain's New York Business
    Crain's Small Business -- New York / Westchester
    Long Island Business News
    Westchester County Business Journal
    Westchester Update


  • Vault.com  --  Access over 60 guides on industries, careers, company profiles, employer profiles and other valuable information when searching for a career. Also, there are PDF versions of Vault Industry & Career Guidebooks.

  • Occupational Outlook Handbook (http://www.bls.gov/oco/)
    This reference book from the U.S. Department of Labor is available online. It describes what workers do on the job, working conditions, the training and education needed, earnings, and expected job prospects in a wide range of occupations.

  • O*Net (http://online.onetcenter.org/) This site allows you to match your skills with a career.
  • New York's Job Bank (http://www.ajb.org/ny/?) Find job postings by category and location.

  • Company Information Guide: Company Research on the Web (http://www.virtualchase.com/coinfo)  --  This well-organized, authoritative research guide provides eight steps for finding information about companies on the web.  The guide directs the user to web sites offered for free, websites for subscribers only and websites that charge a fee.

  • Corporateinformation.com (http://www.corporateinformation.com)  --  Both a meta-site and a search engine. Focuses on providing access to web-based information on companies throughout the world. Searches include: a company; a country's industry; research by country; research reports; research by state; and news updates. [Free, but registration is required]

  • Searching for Company Information (http://www.nypl.org/research/sibl/company/c2index.htm)  --  Excellent research guide from the New York Public Library.

  • BizLink: Your on-line Business Resource (http://www.bizlink.org)  --  An excellent, selective, annotated directory of resources that support the local, national, and international business communities, and others conducting business research.
