Cinahl (Cumulative index to nursing and allied health literature) Indexes nursing, allied health, biomedical and consumer health journals from 1983 to present.

Cochrane Library The Cochrane Library is a collection of databases, the most central being the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews - "Cochrane Reviews are full text articles reviewing the effects of healthcare. The reviews are highly structured and systematic, with evidence included or excluded on the basis of explicit quality criteria, to minimise bias. Data [from similar randomised trails] are often combined statistically (with meta-analysis) to increase the power of the findings of numerous studies, each too small to produce reliable results individually."

Health Reference Center Academic Indexing of 205 medical journals and consumer health magazines; Full Text of more than 150 of these titles as well as Full Text of health related articles from 1,500 general interest periodicals.

Health Source Nursing Academic Provides nearly 590 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Also featured are abstracts and indexing for over 627 journals

Medline Now accessed through Ebsco. Journals published internationally, covering all areas of medicine. 1966 to the present. Updated daily.

PsycINFO The PsycINFO database includes references and summaries for journal articles, books, book chapters, and technical reports, and references to dissertations. Over 1,300 journals in more than 30 languages and English-language books are represented in the database. Includes literature from an array of related disciplines, such as education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, anthropology, business, medicine, nursing, law, and social work. Covers 1887- present.

Stat!Ref A collection of full-text electronic books in the Nursing and Healthcare fields, including titles such as Current Critical Care Diagnosis & Treatment, Geriatric Medicine: An Evidence Based Approach, the Merck Manual, Current Diagnosis & Treatment in Cardiology and more. (Available through February 2006).

General Databases

Academic Search Premier Provides full text for more than 3,430 scholarly publications covering academic areas of study including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies.

Research Library  This database has abstracts as well as full text articles covering humanities, social sciences, general science, and business information.  Approximately one third of the titles are available full text.

Evidence Based Nursing Online. http://www.evidencebasednursing.com This online journal currently has a free trial. You may search or browse through the current issue or past issues.
