Events of the Mortola Library's 20th Anniversary
Celebration.
- On September 22, 23, 24 the library will have an open house in the campus
center from 11-2 that highlights a timeline of events about the library.
Will have a visual/audio component.
- On September 23 after the open house the library is
having a ‘birthday party’ at 3:30PM. This is a social event
for invited guests, faculty and students. Refreshments will be served.
The highlights will include having Marilyn Weigold talk about the history of the
Mortola Library in relation to the Pleasantville campus and the reading of
an official proclamation by County Executive Andrew Spano who declared
9/23/03 Mortola Library Day for Westchester County.
- Halloween Costume contest (October 31 from 12-1:30). Faculty, staff
and students are invited to participate. This will be judged by
library staff. We are looking for the most believable and creative
costumes. Two prizes will be given out.
- Holiday relaxation reception/party (December) A way
for students/faculty to relax during finals. Refreshments would be
served in the Birnbaum Room.
- Spring Clean up (March during Earth Week?) Possibly partnering with the
environmental center to clean up near the pond area. This would be our way
of giving back especially since the pond reflects the library so well.
- Read aloud (April). This is from sunrise to
sunset. Students, Faculty and Staff may sign up for a time slot.
During that time, they may read anything that they would like - their
favorite poem, part of a novel, the newspaper (etc). During this, we
would take time to read some of the memories that have been posted from our
memory page.
- Donuts during finals (May). This would be during
spring semester finals. Anyone in the library at 10:45 PM or later would be
invited to take a break and have donuts and coffee.
