In honor of Earth Month, the library is once again doing a display to demonstrate the waste of paper when documents are printed unnecessarily.
  • Last year’s display showed that we wasted 4.65 trees in one semester of print jobs that were not collected at the CRC lab.
  • In another effort to reduce the use of chemical pesticides, the library will be making available marigold seedlings on the day of their Library Read Aloud as gifts to readers and attendees (they are natural mosquito repellants).
  • Also available will be notepads made from the paper in the “Think Before You Print” display from last year.

In addition to the Think Before You Print Display, the library is doing a display on Recycling and conservation of resources.  It included recyclable materials and recycling facts like: recycling 5 plastic bottles creates enough fiberfill to stuff a ski jacket.  It also had tips on how to conserve energy with simple tips.
