National Telecommunications and Information Administration
- NTIA http://www.ntia.doc.gov/ NTIA covers domestic and international
telecommunications and information technology issues. Access to reports
from the Institute for Telecommunication Sciences, Telecom glossary and
Engineering reports.
Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications http://www.mpt.go.jp/index-e.html Contains
reports on telecommunications and includes information on Japan's
telecommunication sector. Statistical information on the use of
communication products and services are also provided. Take a look at CALsuf. It's an interactive
tutorial that also includes graphics to clarify concepts. It covers these
five modules: Easy Learning of Satellite Communication System, Easy Learning of
Optical Communication Methods, Basic Knowledge of the Personal Handy-phone
System, Internet for Small Office, and Music DO-RE-MI.
Wireless Communications Bureau http://www.fcc.gov/wtb/ Covers
wireless communication services, antenna structure, information on licensing,
wireless headlines and hot topics, and more.
MPT News - Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications http://www.mpt.go.jp/pressrelease/english/mpt-news/ This
is a biweekly newsletter of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications that
covers a variety of topics on telecommunications and communications both at the
national and international level.

Information Theory http://www.lucent.com/minds/infotheory/ "50 Years of Information Theory offers a nice tutorial on information theory: who created it, what it is, and why it's important. The site illustrates how Claude Shannon's insights from 1950 dominate modern communications and information processing. Shockwave is needed to view the site."

and papers on telecommunications issues are available. Brief
telecommunications industry information by country, operator/company, region are
provided. A wealth of information is provided. Online publication is
for purchase.

to Web sites on computer and telecommunications information. Keep in mind
that some of the links are no longer active, and some of the Web pages have been
updated since 1998. However, they may still provide some useful

at issues at the Americas and International levels. Take a look at the
Archives, articles are organized by Americas and International. The
Industry Resources are organized into associations, forum, and other sites.
TIA Standards & Technology (Telecommunications Industry
Association) http://www.tiaonline.org/standards/ Covers standards and
technical and regulatory issues. Enter term(s) in the find box at the end
of the page to locate additional information on standards. Click Resources

Telecommunications Association has a comprehensive glossary; use to clarify
terms and acronyms.
NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration http://www.nasa.gov Provides
useful information even if it may seem too technical. Take a look at NASA
Scientific and Technical Information, which includes a link High
Performance Computing and Communications. Another link to look at is NASA
Technology Portal. Though this site may be too technical you can still
make use of some information.
ETSI - European Telecommunications Standards Institute http://www.etsi.org/ Hopes
to standardize telecommunications in Europe and the rest of the world.
News, legal issues and more are provided. Take a look to know what's being
discussed beyond the boundaries of the United States.
