Education: Professor Nicholls holds the following credentials: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pace University and Master of Arts: Advanced Practice Nursing in Pediatrics (with a minor in Nursing Education) from New York University.  She is currently a doctoral student at The Sage Colleges in Albany, New York.

Areas of Expertise: Pediatric Hematology and Sickle Cell Anemia; Pediatric Asthma and Allergy

Current Area of Research:  NIH Study: A comparison of different treatments for the prevention of secondary stroke and management of iron overload in pediatric subjects with Sickle Cell Anemia and previous strokes

Professional Experience: Professor Nicholls is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) who provides direct patient care to ethnically and linguistically diverse populations.  She practices as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner/Research Study Coordinator at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore, and also teaches nursing staff about blood disorders.  Professor Nicholls has worked as an Assistant Director of Nursing and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at North Central Bronx Hospital/Jacobi Medical Center.  Her career has spanned the course of over 15 years in various pediatric and adult specialties.
