Education: Dr. Pollard holds the following degrees: DNSc (Health Policy/Nursing Research) and MS (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) from Columbia University, New York, NY; MPH (Community Health Education) from Hunter College (CUNY) New York, NY; BS (Nursing) Adelphi University, Garden City, NY; AS from Nassau Community College, Uniondale, NY

Areas of Expertise: Pediatric and Adolescent Healthcare, Public Health/Community Health, Cross cultural health care with children and families.

Current Area of Research: Maternal care giving and health perceptions in Ghana, West Africa; Overweight/Obesity in black urban youth; Qualitative Health Research

Professional Experience: Dr. Pollard joined the Lienhard School of Nursing, Pace University in 2008 as an Assistant Professor teaching in the undergraduate program and pediatric physical assessment to FNP students on the graduate level. She maintains a clinical practice as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Schneider Children’s Hospital in New Hyde Park, NY. Dr. Pollard is also a clinical preceptor for PNP students from Columbia University School of Nursing and provides clinical guidance for medical students and medical residents in the teaching clinic at Schneider Children’s Hospital. Prior to that, she was Assistant Professor at Adelphi University, teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs. From 1989 to 2006 her non-academic professional experience included working at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York holding the titles of Public Health Nurse, Coordinator of the Early Intervention Programs, Manager, Regional Program Director, and as a Per Diem Visiting Nurse. Dr. Pollard has also worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children as a Supervisor of Public Health Nurses, Nurse Clinician, Nurse Manager, and Staff RN.
