Four members of the Lienhard School of Nursing are Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing. Out of America’s 2.9 million nurses, only 1,500 top nursing leaders are part of the Academy, and Professor Sandra B. Lewenson, EdD, RN, FAAN, is one of them. She recently did two poster presentations at the Academy’s annual meeting. One focused on a new Public Health Nursing Assessment Tool that she developed with Marie Truglio-Londrigan, PhD, RN. The tool has the potential to be used in a variety of public health care settings and in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs The second poster focused on the history of public health nursing and the changing terminology in this field throughout the twentieth century. Both will be published in a new book titled Public Health Nursing: Practicing Population-Based Care to be published by Jones and Bartlett in January 2010.
