March of Dimes

March of Dimes   Lienhard School of Nursing students are active in furthering social responsibility.  For example, they recently held Prematurity Awareness Day to raise funds for the March of Dimes, whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.  The students informed supporters that every year, 13 million babies are born too soon worldwide. In the U.S. alone, the rate of premature birth has increased 36 percent in 25 years. These students (from left to right: Nathalie Anderson, Stephany Villacres, Crystal Norwood, Kimberly Rajmohan, and Julia Bowler) are taking a nursing class focused on premature births that is combined with civic engagement.
