David Gertner, Ph.D.,Associate Professor of Marketing in the Lubin School of Business at Pace University, New York, has taught doctoral, master, executive and undergraduate courses in several business programs in the USA and Brazil, including Loyola University Chicago, Thunderbird - The American Graduate School of International Management, in Arizona, and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, where he chaired the doctoral program in Business Administration for five years. Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Gertner has also consulted for a number of companies. Nearly fifty articles, book chapters and essays of his have been published and presented at conferences in several countries.

His publications appear in periodicals such as Journal of Brand Management, Journal of Global Marketing, Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing, International Journal of Business Strategy, European Journal of Management, and Thunderbird International Business Review. Dr. Gertner has been a contributor, guest editor, and member of the editorial board for Place Branding and Public Diplomacy, a journal published by Palgrave Macmillan Journals, of London, and has served as reviewer for a number of academic publications and conferences. Marketing LAC Places, a book he co-authored with marketing guru Philip Kotler, deals with marketing cities, states, and nations in the context of Latin America and the Caribbean, and was published by Pearson Education in Mexico and Brazil (2005/2006). He has worked enthusiastically in executive education and served as a board member of various organizations. In addition, Dr. Gertner participates in several professional associations, having served as Vice-President for Research and Publication of BALAS - the Business Association for Latin American Studies. Place branding and marketing (cities, states, regions, nations, etc.), international marketing, and integrated marketing communications, are a few areas of his current and past research and professional interests. Dr. Gertner is native of Brazil. He has a BA in Architecture and an MBA in Marketing from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and a Ph.D. degree from Northwestern University.
