“As part of this travel course, I had the opportunity to visit various small and large firms in China, both local and foreign companies. This opportunity put into perspective how the Chinese culture guides those in business and how imperative it is to understand this in order to succeed globally.”

“Because this was my first experience in South America, I found it to be different and "eye-opening". The most important point that the trip brought to the surface for me was that as business people, we really need to understand the business environment and the culture of every country in which you are trying to conduct business. Although Argentina and Chile are neighboring countries, they provide a contrasting view of the business environment in South America.”

“It was nice to see the difference of business culture in India from the western culture. You can see the power within the organizational structure, but you can also feel the family-oriented emotions and values... Out of all the company visits, I have at least three favorite ones that I will be applying to for an internship or job.”

“The experience I had in Israel exceeded my expectations. We were able to tour through manufacturing plants, see inside company headquarters, and talk one on one with CEOs. These lectures and visits allowed me to expand my business mindset by introducing me to business culture not yet known in the US.”

“Overall, the ten days I spent on this course I learned a lot about marketing, a lot about England and Belgium, but more importantly a lot about myself. It was an unforgettable experience that I know I will be able to remember for the rest of my life and I appreciate this opportunity that the Figueroa Scholarship provided for me.”

“I learned so many things through this international field study course. I was in Chennai, Pondicherry, and Thanjavur, learning and discussing real empirical microfinance. There are many MFIs. We visited several, but there are hundreds more out there and each one has a different way to approach to borrowers. Microfinance is a really interesting subject and I will keep studying this subject even after I finish taking this course.”

[Brazil]
  [Brazil]
“My field study to Brazil was like nothing I had ever experienced before. It was everything but what I expected. Everything from learning about the political and economic position of Brazil to being fully immersed in the culture was such an experience. It was one thing to learn about the country from textbooks and lectures but to actually see everything first-hand was life-changing for me. ”
