Economic Competitiveness and Leadership
International Field Study to Finland and Russia

This graduate and undergraduate (LLSP/honors) finance/management course explored the
theme of 'Economic Competitiveness and Leadership.' Seventeen Lubin graduate and
undergraduate Lubin Leaders and Scholars students travelled to Helsinki, Finland and to
Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia. Led by
Dr. Michael Szenberg and
Dr. Eric Kessler, the course focused on the international business and
financial markets and evaluated the associated risks and benefits within the framework of
changing global economic conditions, devoting special attention to Europe and regional
integration. The students had the opportunity to meet with political and business leaders
to learn more about the business culture in Finland and Russia. Business visits included
Sitra, Citibank, The American Chamber of Commerce, Corning, Gamma Manufacturing Company,
and The New Economic School. Several key cultural visits such as the Hermitage were also
included.
