Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance
The major in finance is designed to provide students with an understanding of financial management functions with particular emphasis on financial instruments, financial institutions, and capital structures as they relate to the corporate enterprise. The objective of the BBA finance major is to provide students with the conceptual background and analytical tools necessary for sound financial decision-making. Finance graduates are prepared for financial positions in business firms, financial institutions, and government and non-profit organizations. Finance majors take a total of 128 credits including 31 in finance and economics. Global topics are integrated throughout the finance curriculum, which also offers specialized courses such as the Student Managed Investment Portfolio. Technology is used in the finance program to give students "hands-on" knowledge of e-commerce, computer presentation, and database analysis. Special course topics in finance such as Options, Futures, and Swaps; Mergers, Acquisitions, and Corporate Control; and Financial Engineering keep finance majors on the cutting edge of the field.
