Former SEC Chief Accountants to Discuss SEC's Accounting Role New York Times Chief Financial Correspondent, Floyd Norris, will discuss the current challenges confronting the new SEC Chairman with Conrad Hewitt and Lynn Turner, both former SEC chief accountants, at a breakfast seminar on Wednesday, March 4, at 8 a.m. They will probe the issues faced by President Obama as he strives to lead the country out of the current financial crisis. This meeting is the second in a Pace Accounting Breakfast Series that is being hosted by Ernst & Young at their midtown headquarters. Chairman of American Media to be Executive in Residence David Pecker, BBA '72, chairman and CEO, American Media, Inc. will be an Executive in Residence on the New York City campus on Thursday, March 26. Mr. Pecker will lecture to both graduate and undergraduate students, and provide insights into the vast publishing business he heads. American Media publishes 16 magazines and is the leading publishing company in the celebrity journalism and health and fitness categories. | Tom Jones, vice chairman, International Accounting Standards Board, will be among the keynote interviews at the Third Annual Lubin Forum on Contemporary Accounting Issues on Thursday, April 30, in midtown. The theme of the conference is "International Accounting Standards: Going from the Talk to Doing the Walk." Another featured interviewee at the forum will be Robert Herz, chairman of the Financial Accounting Standards Board. Also invited to give luncheon keynotes are Senator Charles E. Two Lubin Undergrads Score in Westchester Competition Lubin undergraduates Luisa Morales, BBA '11, from Pace New York and Lloyd Duberry, BBA '09, from Pace Pleasantville, were the first place team in Westchester County's "Building Livable Communities Second Life Competition" on January 23. Sponsored by the County's Department of Senior Programs and Services, the Pace team was enrolled in Dr. Jean Coppola's Intergenerational Computing service learning class, and the team received $750 and the chance to present their project to the County's advisory board on January 31. Lubin alumnus and adjunct Matt Ganis from IBM served as technical adviser to the team in the virtual world Second Life. |

Pace Pitch Contest Tiffany Rad was the 2008 Pace Pitch winner in the New Business Concept category for OpenOtto, a software platform that acts as an interface for communicating with all networked electronic devices in a car. Eric Steele and David Isserman were the Social Venture category winners for RareShare.org, a social hub of online communities that brings together patients, families and healthcare professionals for sharing knowledge and personal experiences about rare medical disorders. The contest featured keynote speaker Gurbaksh Chahal, founder, Blue Lithium, and was produced by clinical professor of management, Bruce Bachenheimer. >> more info |
| Field Studies Span the Globe During the January 2009 intersession, Lubin undergraduate students visited Brussels and London for a ten-day International Marketing Field Study experience. Students participated in lectures given by marketing and advertising companies, including Coca-Cola, McCann Erickson and FedEx. During the spring semester Lubin graduate and undergraduate students will visit Brazil, China, Russia and Finland, and Dubai and London. Increased field study participation is being made possible through the generous support of the Figueroa family who contributed $1,500 per eligible Lubin student. The Figueroa family also contributed $3,000 per study abroad experience. >> more info |
