  New CEO Series "Unleash Your Leadership"
A new CEO series is coming to the Lubin School and will kick off on November 25 with Dick Parsons, Chairman, Time Warner. The event will be held in the Schimmel Theater, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., at the New York City campus. The series will be hosted by Stephen H. Baum, an executive coach to senior management leaders and former partner with global management consultants, Booz Allen & Hamilton. Other CEOs that will participate in this series include Michelle Peluso, CEO, Travelocity, David Snow, CEO of Medco Health, and Simon Assaad, CEO, Heavy.com. What's Going on at Ground Zero?
Larry Silverstein, president and CEO, Silverstein Properties, Inc., is one of the top real estate moguls in New York. Mr. Silverstein will be an Executive in Residence on the New York City campus on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at 6:00 pm. He will speak to the Pace community about the developments taking place at Ground Zero and in the Downtown New York community. The theme of his lecture will be "Building the Future of Lower Manhattan." This event is open to students, faculty, and alumni of Pace. [Shop Around for A Good Cause]   Shop Around for A Good Cause
If you haven't already gotten a start on your holiday shopping, now would be a good time to start. The Lubin Alumni Achievement Award online silent auction Web site is now live. The site contains a collection of spectacular items from a one-week stay in Paris, to an opportunity to get VIP tickets to a taping of the famed Inside the Actors' Studio filmed at Pace. Proceeds from the auction provide important scholarship support to Lubin students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, financial need, and service to the University and/or community.

If you are a finance professional and are interested in acquiring more knowledge or advancing yourself within the field, consider Lubin's Masters in Finance for Professionals (MFP). The MFP is a 36-credit program that will launch in January. The program is specifically targeted toward professionals working in the field of finance and can be completed in one year.

Pace Pitch Contest
The Fifth Annual Pace Pitch Contest will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008. The contest is being presented in association with the Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship and the MIT Enterprise Forum of New York City. The contest has proven to be an excellent means of engaging students and fostering the pursuit of entrepreneurial activities. This year's keynote speaker will be Gurbaksh Chahal, who was recently interviewed on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Oprah referred to Gurbaksh as "one of the youngest and wealthiest entrepreneurs on the planet."

  Rise of Mutual Funds Author to Visit
Matthew P. Fink, author of The Rise of Mutual Funds—An Insider's View, will be doing a lecture/book signing at a breakfast session on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, on the New York City campus. Mr. Fink will discuss, sign copies, and answer questions about his book. This session is hosted by Lubin's William C. Freund Center for the Study of Securities Markets. On Monday, November 17, Susan E. Jackson, PhD, professor in the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers University, will be a speaker at the Academy of Management Distinguished Scholar Series, presented by the Lubin Leaders and Scholars Program. She will speak on the New York City campus about "The Power of Social Networking." She is a fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Academy of Management, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

This fall, Joseph R. Ficalora, chairman, president and CEO, New York Community Bancorp, and Nina DiSesa, chairman, McCann Erickson, were Executives in Residence on the New York City campus. Mr. Ficalora addressed the current crisis in the banking industry from an insider's perspective in front of capacity crowds. Nina DiSesa, author of Seducing the Boys Club: Uncensored Tactics from a Woman at the Top, offered insights into her meteoric rise in the advertising industry, particularly addressing the unique challenges faced by aspiring women senior executives. Ernst & Young Grant Improves Accounting Lab
The Lubin School held a reception in celebration of a grant of over $33,000 from Ernst & Young on October 21. The funding has allowed the school to design a completely renovated accounting lab with new computers, software, wireless internet access, and a conference room with a computerized interactive white board called a "SMART" board. This marks the next step in a long-standing relationship between Pace and Ernst & Young. Over 300 Lubin school alumni work at Ernst & Young, which recruits regularly from Pace.

[Tequila Anyone?]   Tequila Anyone?
On November 5, 2008, two senior executives from Patrón Spirits, the famed tequila manufacturer, visited Lubin and lectured to marketing and finance students. Marketing faculty member Marc Scheinman arranged for the speakers John McDonnell, COO, and Chris Spake, global brand manager, to visit Pace. They lectured to students on Patron's world leading growth in tequila and its launching of new beverages in the vodka (Ultimat) and rum (Pyrat) segments.

Globalization in Africa
Students and faculty members of the Lubin School of Business attended an informative panel discussion on global issues in Africa at Pace on October 21. This event was the second in an ongoing series of global forums offered by Lubin's Center for Global Business Programs (formerly the Center for International Business Development), which supports internationalization of education at Pace. The speakers included Pace faculty members from Lubin and Dyson, as well as graduate students from the Pace MBA program, who have expertise with issues in Africa.

  Freshmen Enrollment Registers Significant Increases
September's undergraduate enrollment at the Lubin School of Business increased 11% over the prior year as a result of increases in both freshmen and new transfer students, reported Dean Joseph Baczko recently. New international students more than doubled and currently represent approximately 12% of the entering class, reinforcing Lubin's global reputation for business studies and the attraction of the New York area. New graduate enrollment jumped more than 30%, across all MBA and MS programs, with international students representing approximately 50% of the entering class. Finance and accounting programs continue to lead the courses of study.
