A-List Celebrities to Lecture in AEM
With the launch of its new Arts and Entertainment Management concentration this fall, Lubin is leveraging its New York City industry connections to bring award-winning directors, producers, and entertainment managers into the classroom. Six celebrity guest lecturers have been confirmed thus far: ABC News special correspondent and syndicated talk show host Katie Couric; film director and Imagine Entertainment founder Ron Howard; Viacom Entertainment Group president Doug Herzog; American Ballet Theatre executive director Rachel Moore; New York City Center president and CEO Arlene Shuler; and The Shubert Organization co-CEO and president Robert E. Wankel. The Arts and Entertainment Management program affirms Pace's role as a go-to destination for all things in the performing arts.

19th Annual Lubin Luncheon: Celebrating Pace's Accounting History
The Lubin Luncheon will be a celebration of Lubin's special relationship with the Accounting profession and recognition of our alumni at the Big Four. The Luncheon will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012, at One Chase Manhattan Plaza. Proceeds from the luncheon are used to provide important scholarship support to Lubin students and to support special projects selected by the Dean to enhance Lubin's competitive standing with other leading business schools. What Do Jonah Hill's Dad and Madonna's Accountant Have in Common?
That they are both the same person—Richard H. Feldstein, CPA/PFS, partner, Nigro Karlin Segal & Feldstein, LLP, who was an Executive in Residence on the New York City campus on Monday, October 8, 2012. Mr. Feldstein manages the business and financial affairs of high net worth and high net income clients, many of whom are in the entertainment industry, including Madonna, will.i.am, Selena Gomez, Adam Levine, and his own son, actor Jonah Hill. During his lecture, Mr. Feldstein discussed the importance of client relations in any business, his experiences with clients relative to present issues, and the broad opportunities that exist in the accounting profession.

New Programs Meet Market Demand
This fall Lubin introduced three new cutting-edge programs. The BBA in Accounting/MS in Taxation combined degree is a unique, five-year, full-time program that builds on Lubin's strong reputation in accounting and tax. Graduates meet the 150-credit requirement for the CPA exam while simultaneously obtaining an in-depth understanding of tax law. The MS in Customer Intelligence and Analytics is for professionals and students who realize the importance of "Big Data" and want to expand their skills in fact-based decision making with a better understanding of customers' needs and experiences. The MS in Social Media and Mobile Marketing integrates digital and traditional media to help managers position their firms for effective communication strategies considering the impact of new media on the marketplace. Beta Alpha Psi Achieves Honorary Designation
Lubin's Iota Lambda chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) achieved KPMG Gold Chapter designation at the 2012 Annual BAP National Convention in Baltimore. Among 296 chapters worldwide, only 9 chapters achieved this honorary designation this year. This recognition symbolizes that BAP has excelled in building relationships with peers and professionals, recognizing and rewarding scholastic success, instilling commitment to lifelong professional development, developing leadership skills, giving back to the community through services, and encouraging ethical behavior. Kudos to BAP for this remarkable recognition!

IDM Lab Students Stand Out in Marketing Competition
Two Lubin Interactive and Direct Marketing Lab teams, one from each campus, competed in the Collegiate ECHO 2011-12 Challenge, coordinated by the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation. The New York City team, "Sky Mall Campaign 8," received honorable mention for marketing research. The Pleasantville team, "PLV-IDM Lab," received honorable mention for their professional presentation. There were approximately 120 entries in this year's worldwide competition and the final rankings were made from among approximately 20 semifinalists.

Harvey Markowitz
Harvey Markowitz, clinical associate professor of marketing, and director of the IDM Lab (see article above), is among the honorees for the 2012 Silver Apple, awarded by The Direct Marketing Club of New York. Silver Apple honors are announced in conjunction with the club's Golden Apple honors at their annual gala. The awards recognize individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to direct and interactive marketing during a career spanning at least 25 years.

Vy Bui Blogs About CFA Prep for NYSSA
Alumna Vy Bui '10 has blogged about her CFA Level II experience for the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA). In her blog, she emphasizes the importance of joining a good study group—an advantage gained from attending NYSSA review classes. NYSSA is a member society of the CFA Institute, which offers scholarships to students based on their experience and/or interest in the investment profession, ethical standards, and commitment to NYSSA and the CFA Institute. Ms. Bui was one of five recipients of NYSSA scholarships awarded in June 2012 when she was an MBA student.

The Great Recession: Major Religious Perspectives on the Global Economic and Financial Crisis, by Michael Szenberg, professor of economics, was recently published by Amazon. The book provides readers with a context for using religion as a lens to view the economic crisis. The book presents a fascinating collection of essays by professional economists who examine their personal religious traditions and extract the teachings that have consequence for recently shared economic experiences and shed light on the potential avenues toward building a more stable, just, and equitable future.

Laura Schmitt '12 was awarded the Joseph A. and Mary DiBenedetto Memorial Fund for Service Excellence in Accounting Award at a meeting of the Accounting Society in September 2012. This award is presented annually by the Lubin Accounting Department to the accounting major who most exemplifies leadership and service to the department, to the Lubin School of Business, and to the University. The award has been made possible through the Joseph and Mary DiBenedetto Fund and was established by Joseph DiBenedetto, professor of accounting, as a way to acknowledge and reward exceptional students in Lubin's prestigious accounting program.
