Neil Braun has been reappointed Dean of the Lubin School of Business. His dynamic leadership style and vast experience have brought vitality and relevance to Pace's business school. Since he became dean in 2010, the Lubin School has introduced progressive new programs and concentrations that reflect the demands of the marketplace.   Travelers Exec. Next Executive In Residence
Fred R. Donner, BBA '84, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, Business Insurance, Travelers, will lecture to students on the Pleasantville campus on Thursday, October 31. During his lecture he will speak about his role at the company and Travelers' robust 2014 summer internship opportunity. In March 2013, Mr. Donner was instrumental in having Travelers and Lubin collaborate to present Travelers' Overdraft documentary to nearly 300 students and get a conversation started about America's debt crisis. Student Managed Investment Portfolio (SMIP) Outperforms Benchmark Indices
Student Managed Investment Portfolio
Pace University's Lubin Student Managed Investment Portfolio (SMIP) fund announced its end-of-fiscal-year (8/31/12 - 8/31/13) results. The fund beat its benchmarks - Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), S&P 500 and NASDAQ, with its annual return of 24.74%. The benchmark returns were 13.13%, 16.06% and 17.05%, respectively, over the 12 months ending 8/31/2013. Students who manage the SMIP engage in direct contact with leading financial analysts and hedge fund managers. "The amazing performance of these Pace students at the Pleasantville and New York campuses testifies to the pedagogical soundness of the Experiential Learning approach to educating 21st Century scholars," states Professor Ron Filante, who teaches FIN 357, the course in which students oversee the SMIP Fund.

IBM Case Competition
[IBM Case Competition ]
Lubin, in collaboration with IBM, is hosting the First Annual Business Strategy and Insights Case Competition this fall. The competition will allow students to gain valuable insights into the growing importance that social networks serve in decision making and business between potential buyers and organizations. The objectives of the case competition include performing an audit of online conversations and identifying and ranking the preferred social channels and IBM's participation rate versus competitors and non-competitors. Awards for winning teams include guaranteed interviews for full-time jobs and internships. Travelers is seeking undergraduate and graduate Lubin students who are highly skilled in finance, accounting, or quantitative business analysis for its exclusive Financial Management Leadership Development Program (FMLDP) and summer internship program. An information session will be held on October 7 to promote the FMLDP and the summer internship program for juniors entering their senior year who will be graduating in 2015. Participation in the summer internship program may lead to full-time employment with Travelers. Beta Alpha Psi Continues to Soar
Lubin's Iota Lambda chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) won its fourth prestigious Gold Chapter award at BAP's Annual Confererence in Anaheim, California in August. At the conference, the Lubin chapter competed in two Best Practices competitions against nationally renowned teams. The team also participated in the International Day of Literacy and Project Run With It. Members helped not-for-profit organizations solve their accounting, financial and management problems, as well as helped teach elementary school students in economically disadvantaged communities. Dr. Charles Tang, BAP's faculty advisor, was also the recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award, an award given to only five chapter advisors each year. Ernst Young Scholarship Winners Announced
Lubin students Leanne Amicucci, Renee Bluszcz, Gianna Khader, Anthony Fanelli, Jamie Sanchez, Nelly Zorrilla, Craig Mayle, Trevor Woolley and Aroub Khan were recent recipients of the Ernst & Young Scholarship award. A scholarship dinner was held on September 24 to celebrate the students and their accomplishments. The Ernst & Young Fund for Excellence in Accounting Education provides scholarship awards of $5,000 each to outstanding Lubin students in a qualified undergraduate or graduate accounting program. Ernst & Young LLP established the scholarship fund in 2010 to promote educational excellence in accounting at Pace.

Joseph and Mary DiBenedetto Fund
Leanne Amicucci and Tathiane Thompson were presented with the Joseph A. and Mary DiBenedetto Memorial Fund for Service Excellence in Accounting Award at a meeting of the Accounting Society on September 18, 2013. This award is presented annually by the Lubin Accounting Department to an accounting major who most exemplifies leadership and service to the department, to the Lubin School of Business, and to the University. The award has been made possible through the Joseph and Mary DiBenedetto Fund and was established by Joseph DiBenedetto, professor of accounting, as a way to acknowledge and reward exceptional students in Lubin's prestigious accounting program.
