Overview The MBA in Human Resources Management program prepares students for professional positions in human resource management as functional or staff specialists. Functional specializations include: recruitment, selection, training and development, job evaluation, performance assessment, and compensation administration. Staff specialists coordinate or perform many of these functions in a centralized structure or for departments in large companies. Program and Courses At Lubin, both theory and practice play an important role in the learning environment, as they enable students to analyze, design and evaluate human resource systems and processes across the full spectrum of human resource management functions. They bring not only academic excellence, but also industry savvy to the classroom. Career Opportunities Human resources (HR) professionals have many important roles and responsibilities. For example, HR professionals recruit, interview and hire new employees, develop compensation and benefits packages, ensure employment and labor laws are observed, train and coach employees across different business functions, and develop strategies for employee retention. According to the US Department of Labor - Bureau of Labor Statistics, HR jobs are expected to "grow faster than average" (18 – 26% by 2014) and be competitive due to HR being a course at many universities. The University also offers extended hours for many administrative offices to serve its working students. Convenient Locations The MBA in Human Resources Management program is offered at the New York City downtown campus, located in the center of the city's financial district, just a few blocks from Wall Street, and the Westchester campus in White Plains, NY, near corporate headquarters. Admission A U.S. bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree from a foreign school is the preferred undergraduate degree requirement for admission into the program. In addition to a resume, a personal statement, a GMAT or GRE score report, and two recommendations, applicants must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities they have attended. A recent TOEFL score, no more than two years old, is required of all applicants whose native language is not English or who did not receive a bachelor's or master's degree from a U.S. institution.
