Overview
Pace has one hundred years of experience in preparing students for successful accounting careers. The relevance and innovation of our programs has resulted in our being awarded the prestigious AACSB Accounting Accreditation, a distinction that only 167 schools across the nation share. AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, is the premier accrediting organization for business schools in the world. Pace is among the fewer than 3% of business schools nationwide that have both professional and accounting accreditation from AACSB.

Lubin's BBA in public accounting program is designed to prepare students for careers as public accountants in business, government, and the nonprofit sector. Students who do not choose to enroll in the BBA/MBA program can meet the 150-credit requirements for the CPA exam though this undergraduate program. You will be fully prepared to take the CPA exam upon graduation. The program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to succeed in today's complex business world. While preparing students for successful accounting careers, the design of the program also allows students to choose among other business majors, such as information systems, to broaden their academic experience. Classes provide a mix of theory and practice so that students are able to deal with the complexity of the business world upon graduation. Students also develop a heightened sense of ethics, professionalism, and globalization, which are all integrated throughout the curriculum.

Program and Courses
The BBA in Public Accounting program is registered with the New York State Education Department as meeting the 150-credit hour requirement to take the CPA exam in New York State effective August 1, 2009.

Career Opportunities
The scope of services provided by certified public accountants (CPAs) and other professional accountants is constantly broadening as business activities expand and become more complex. Therefore, the need for well-qualified accounting students with a heightened level of professionalism has never been stronger. In December 2007, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projected an 18% increase in employment growth for accountants and auditors from 2006-16. The Big Four accounting firms all actively recruit our students for both internships and full-time positions. The success of our program is measured by the success of our alumni. Several of our alumni have undertaken significant leadership roles as partners in Big Four accounting firms. Our graduates are also successfully employed in managerial and executive positions by smaller accounting firms, government agencies, and private corporations in the tri-state region.

Corporate Internship Opportunities
Pace's Cooperative Education Program is the largest university internship program in the New York metropolitan area. There are a variety of internships available for accounting majors at Pace. The Big Four firms all have formal internship programs for our students, as do smaller accounting firms, such as BDO Seidman and McGladrey & Pullen. Corporations such as Pepsi, JPMorgan Chase, and IBM also provide excellent co-op experiences for our accounting majors. Generally, student interns are able to leverage their internship experiences into full-time positions.
