U.S.News Ranks Pace Among Top Five in the US, #1 in Metro New York for Internships
Pace University is among the top five schools in the U.S. and #1 in metro New York for internship placement according to U.S.News & World Report's "Short List." This is a regular series that magnifies individual data points to provide students and parents a way to find which undergraduate or graduate programs excel in specific areas. The new ranking highlights ten national universities with the highest percentage of 2011 graduates who worked as interns during their undergraduate studies. Pace does have the largest co-op and internship program in the region, transforming students into job-ready professionals.

Pace Has #1 Online Program in the Country
U.S.News & World Report has ranked Pace University as having the number one online bachelor's degree program in the country in their most recent "2013 Best Online Bachelor's Programs" rankings. Factors such as faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, and student engagement were evaluated to rank the best online bachelor's programs. U.S.News & World Report collected statistical information on 237 schools to compile their list.

Lubin Finance Programs Recognized By CFA Institute and GARP
The CFA Institute recently welcomed the Lubin School of Business into their University Recognition Program. Entry into the program signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that the Lubin curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the three levels of CFA examinations. The Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) has welcomed the MS in Investment Management program into the Partnership for Risk Education, as a GARP Academic Partner. The partnership is a framework through which interested academic institutions can assess whether their risk management offerings are aligned with global industry needs and best practices.

New Programs Meet Market Demand
This fall Lubin introduced four new cutting-edge programs. The Arts and Entertainment Management concentration addresses the growing interest of business students in the management side of industries within the broad range of the arts/entertainment field. The BBA in Accounting/MS in Taxation combined degree is a unique, five-year, full-time program that builds on Lubin's strong reputation in accounting and tax. Graduates meet the 150-credit requirement for the CPA exam while simultaneously obtaining an in-depth understanding of tax law. The MS in Customer Intelligence and Analytics is for professionals and students who realize the importance of "Big Data" and want to expand their skills in fact-based decision making with a better understanding of customers' needs and experiences. The MS in Social Media and Mobile Marketing integrates digital and traditional media to help managers position their firms for effective communication strategies considering the impact of new media on the marketplace. Lights, Camera... Lubin Takes Action!
Lubin's new Arts and Entertainment Management concentration addresses the growing interest of business students in the management side of industries within the broad range of the arts/entertainment field. Interdisciplinary in scope, performing arts and business students will work collaboratively and will receive a comprehensive business education preparing them for success in any industry. Confirmed guest lecturers include: ABC News special correspondent and syndicated talk show host Katie Couric; film director and Imagine Entertainment founder Ron Howard; Viacom Entertainment Group president Doug Herzog; American Ballet Theatre executive director Rachel Moore; New York City Center president and CEO Arlene Shuler; and The Shubert Organization co-CEO and president Robert E. Wankel.

Pace at the Olympics
Keeping up with Olympic results on the internet? Thank Lubin MBA and Seidenberg professor Matt Ganis, who was part of the IBM team that, in 1996, developed the system that made online Olympics coverage possible. During the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, his work earned Guinness World Records for what were, at the time, the most popular internet event ever and the most visits to a Web site in one minute. Professor Claudia Green, director of Lubin's Hospitality and Management Program, is already looking ahead to 2016. As the organizer of the Rio Green Map initiative, Green has developed a plan for sustainable growth and development in the Brazilian capital, host to the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics. Green is also part of Amigos Digitais, connecting students in Rio and New York City's Lower East Side in cultural exchange.

The University's newly published Economic and Community Impact Report details Pace's contributions to the area that have spurred growth and innovation.

Entrepreneurship Lab Opens in NYC
Lubin officially opened the doors to its Entrepreneurship Lab (E-Lab) on February 16 and cutting the ribbon with Dean Neil Braun and Pace trustee Harold Levy was Professor Bruce Bachenheimer, director of the lab and Entrepreneurship@Lubin. The big picture strategy of the E-Lab is not only to incubate companies or create startups, but to foster entrepreneurial thinking. The E-Lab will provide all Pace students with a supportive, state-of-the-art environment, including access to workshops, guest speakers, roundtable discussions, and networking events. As Dean Braun remarked to crain's: "It's about more than starting companies. Entrepreneurship, to me, is a mindset, a way of thinking and interdisciplinary doing."

Professor Emeritus Anthony Pustorino Honored at 14th Annual Lubin Golf Classic
Anthony Pustorino was honored with the 2012 Lubin Golf Classic Award on Tuesday, May 29. He taught accounting at Pace University for over 35 loyal years. His numerous accolades and his former students' warm regard, distinguish him as a truly dedicated and passionate educator. During his tenure at Pace, he was a recipient of numerous Teacher of the Year Awards, the Kenan Award of Teaching Excellence, and the Dr. Emmanuel Saxe Outstanding CPA in Education Award bestowed by the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Lubin School, AIBA Offer Compliance & Regulatory Certificate
Responding to industry demand, Lubin has formed a strategic alliance with the Association of International Bank Auditors (AIBA) to offer a Certified Compliance and Regulatory Professional (CCRPTM) certificate program targeting professionals in the global financial services industry. The CCRPTM Program will be the inaugural course offered in the new Center for Global Governance, Reporting, and Regulation at Lubin, which will develop and apply knowledge growing out of the business school's years of experience with international accounting standards and corporate management. CCRPTM classes begin February 2, 2012.

Lubin Fulbright Scholar Named
Dmitriy Yermolayev, BBA '09, is among the four Pace University awardees of the 2011-2012 US Fulbright Awards. Dmitriy selected Ukraine as his host country. His topic will be economic liberation and its effect on business and entrepreneurship. Dmitriy is the owner of the IT consulting firm Integrated Dynamic Systems based in Poughkeepsie, NY. In the past, Dmitriy was awarded the Department Award for Academic Excellence in Finance and was on Pace University's Dean's List every semester. DPS Students Earn Prestigious Award
Two Lubin Doctoral Program candidates, Colleen Kirk and Bernard McSherry, recently earned the coveted "Award for the Best Doctoral Student Paper in Behavioral Finance" conferred by the Academy of Behavioral Finance and Economics. The paper, entitled "The Effect of Nonconscious Goals on Investor Choice" and the award were presented at the 2011 annual conference of the academy on September 21-23 hosted by the University of California, Los Angeles. Ms. Kirk will join the faculty of Mt. Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY, next January and Mr. McSherry is currently a faculty member at New Jersey City University, Jersey City, NJ.

Nicole is an education hero who is working hard to make ours a more colorful world by volunteering to teach yoga for the after-school program at PS 191. Nicole is a Business Honors Program student majoring in Marketing/International Business. She began her community service at PS 191 as part of the MGT 366 - Leadership Principles and Practice course requirement for BHP.

Meet Asher Levine, BBA '10, the 22-Year-Old Designer Who Dresses Lady Gaga
Asher Levine, a 2010 Lubin School graduate and entrepreneurship major, is on his way up in the business of fashion. He did a test run last year in the annual Pace Pitch Contest, proposing a line of denim fashion that would be "powerful and yet inevitable." The Port Charlotte, Florida native dressed Lady Gaga not once, but twice, in the past few months, finding his clothes on her just weeks after he graduated from Pace University.

Lubin Professor Selected for Top Pentagon Program
Dr. Eric Kessler, professor of management and director of Lubin's Business Honors Program, participated in the 2010 Joint Civilian Orientation Conference (JCOC), sponsored by the Secretary of Defense. The JCOC is a Pentagon outreach program for elite U.S. public opinion leaders to exchange information regarding national defense issues. An expert in global leadership and organizational management, Dr. Kessler visited the Pentagon to meet with senior members of the Department of Defense and Joint Chiefs of Staff and flew to numerous military bases to meet with Generals and Admirals from each of the military services. He also engaged troops in the field by participating in anti-terrorism/insurgent training with the Army Rangers, military convoy and live-fire drills with the Marines, demonstrations of the newest, fastest ship in the Navy, and Air Defense command center simulations with the Air Force. Dr. Kessler stated that he was enriched by the experience and was particularly touched by the professionalism, capability, and humanity of the men and women who serve our country. He is eager to integrate its lessons into his teaching, scholarship, and leadership development program.
