Best Friends Pet Care


Randy Myer, the founder of Best Friends Pet Care, a national chain of high quality pet centers, was selected as the first Entrepreneur in Residence. Randy Myer was the ideal person to launch the Lubin School's new Entrepreneur in Residence program. In 1991 Mr. Myer raised $3 million in venture capital to found Best Friends Pet Care, a chain of boarding, grooming and veterinarian centers. Five years later, when he sold his share of the business to his partners, the company had a market value of nearly $30 million.

Mr. Myer spent two decades in traditional corporate settings before embarking upon his own business venture. His employers included IBM and Spalding Sports Worldwide, where he headed manufacturing and distribution for the Fisher division, maker of pool tables and skis. From Spalding, he joined Booz, Allen & Hamilton in 1978, and advanced through the organization to become partner in the firm's Consumer Industry Practice division. He joined the Lubin School in 1996 as an adjunct professor, acting on a long held interest in teaching.

Mr. Myer holds a B.A. from the University of North Carolina and a M.B.A. from Harvard University.
