Westchester Undergraduate Award Recipient Profiles


Emily Rubow graduated summa cum laude in the BBA degree program, International Management major, Latin America concentration, and a minor in Finance.

She received the Michaelian full scholarship to Pace University and has been on the Dean's list with a final overall average of a perfect 4.0 Emily is also a member of the Lubin Leaders and Scholars Program and the Honors program. Her Honors Research project was entitled, "Does the Composition of the Board of Directors Affect Decisions Regarding Environmental Corporate Social Responsibility?" Her academic project for her finance minor was "TI-83 Applications-Conversion of Financial Functions."

Some of Emily's extracurricular activities at Pace have been in the Lubin Leaders and Scholars program, Management Society in the office of secretary, member of Phi Theta Kappa, and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies. She is also a member of the NYS Association of Realtors and is a licensed real estate salesperson.

Emily plans to continue her education and attend Pace graduate school.


Jenna Comizio graduated with a BBA degree, Marketing Management major, summa cum laude, with a perfect 4. average.

As a member the Pforzheimer Honors College, Jenna prepared an independent research article entitled "Law and Ethics in a Marketing Business Environment." She is also in the Lubin Leaders and Scholars program of Pace University, and a member of the American Marketing Association. In addition, Jenna is a member of Alpha Chi national honor society; Golden Key International Honor society; and Omicron Delta Epsilon Economics honor society.

Jenna has also been the recipient of the Society for Marketing Professional Services Scholarship award, and the Advertising Club of Westchester, Connie Kaiser Award.

Rene Ashman graduated magna cum laude in the BBA/MBA Public Accounting program with a 3.80 average. She is a member of the Pforzheimer honors college and a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society, Golden Key International Honor society, and a member of the Lubin Leaders and Scholars Program.

Rene has been on the Dean's list and was selected to attend Deloitte's National Student Leadership Conference and was the guest student speaker at the Homer S. Pace Medal Awards Dinner.

She has been an intern at MasterCard International in Purchase, New York, and more recently an audit intern at Deloitte and Touché, LLP in Stamford, Connecticut.

Lanbing Bowman graduated with distinctionin the BBA Public Accounting program, with a perfect 4. average and received a Dean's scholarship from Pace University.

He received an Associate degree in Accounting from Community College and a BA in Chinese Literature from Shanghai University in China. He participated in the Citibank Executive Training in Hong Kong and worked for Citibank, N.A., in Shanghai, China, before working as a Fine Jewelry Specialist in Scarsdale, New York, and more recently as an Accountant at Emisphere Technologies in Tarrytown, NY.

Lanbing is fluent in Chinese and is a United States Citizen.

David Duarte graduated with distinctionin the BBA in General Accounting program. David received the Joseph I. Lubin Junior Achievement Award in Business and is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society.

He has been a full time bookkeeper at GNT USA Inc., in Tarrytown, NY and plans to continue at GNT USA as an accountant.

Bennie Calcano graduated cum laude in the BBA/MBA Public Accounting degree program. Bennie has a 4. in his accounting major and has been a research assistant at Pace University. He also received the Trustee recognition and graduate trustee recognition scholarships. He has studied abroad in Segovia, Spain and participated in a cultural field study, Horizonte Cultural.

Bennie was a graduate assistant and accounting assistant for F&A; at the Law school. He is fluent in English and Spanish. Bennie has been offered a position as Auditor with BDO Seidman upon graduation.

Brett Ridgeway graduated magna cum laude with a BBA in Public Accounting and plans to sit for the CPA exam. He received the President's scholarship and is a member of the Pforzheimer Honors College.

He is a member of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity and held the office of secretary. Brett is also a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Chi Honor Societies. He was on the Pace Track and Field team, was a member of the Pace University Accounting Society and the Pace newspaper, Paw Print.

Through our Co-Op and Career Services office, Brett received an accounting internship at Maier, Markey and Menashi, LLP, in White Plains, New York, and also worked as an accounting intern at Ernst & Young, LLP. He has accepted a position at Ernst & Young, LLP, as an auditor.

Tom Pombo graduated summa cum laude with a BBA in Finance. He received the Lubin School tuition scholarship and is a member of the Pforzheimer Honors College and the Lubin Leaders and Scholars program. His senior research paper discussed the financial difficulties facing small market baseball teams.

Tom was Vice President of Administration for the Student Government Association and was honored as the Student Government Association Member of the Year. He was a Peer Advisor for incoming students and Managed the Student Information Booth at Pace. Tom also interned at First Data Corporation ion Melville, New York, as a corporate Audit Intern.

He helped design a Web site for the Hartsdale, New York, Fire Department and was the co-founder and co-editor of The Paper Airplane, an on campus publication focused on information for the student body of campus events.

Joey Zach graduates magna cum laude with a BBA in Finance and a minor in Marketing as well as in Criminal Justice.

He received the Future Business Leaders of America Scholarship and Pace University President's Academic Scholarship. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Alpha Chi, and Omicron Delta Epsilon honor societies, as well as the Finance Society, the Criminal Justice Society and the Future Business Leaders of America.

He received an internship at the New York Police Department, Terrorism Incident prevention Unit in Brooklyn, New York.

Elizabeth Burns graduated magna cum laude with a BBA in Management. She is a member of the Pforzheimer Honors College and is an office assistant at Kundhart Productions in Chappaqua, New York.

Andrew Jagusiak graduated with a BBA, Marketing major, Advertising and Promotion concentration.

He was a member of the Pace University Marketing Association and the Pace Advertising Team where he competed in the National AAF Student Advertising Competition for the Coca Cola marketing campaign. Andrew was a member of the Pace Varsity Football Team, and was the Outstanding Offensive Front 7 Award Winner; he also participated in intramural volleyball.

His volunteer and community service activities included Pace Campus Clean up and Special Olympics at Pace and also in Staten Island. He participated in 9/11 Relief at Staten Island Homeport and assisted in Habitat for Humanity here in Westchester.

Presently he is a paraprofessional working one to one or with a class of special needs children.

Jennifer Devine graduated with a BBA degree, Marketing Major and an Art minor. She is a member of the Pforzheimer Honors College, Psi Delta Sorority, office of treasurer; and the Pace Ad Team where she participated in the National Student Advertising Competition. She has been a member of the residential hall council and volunteered with Special Olympics and the Dobbs Ferry Juvenile Delinquents Facility by assisting students with developing social skills.

Jennifer worked as a lab technician at Pace University in the Art Department and is presently an Administrative Assistant for Eva Balogh, Doctor of Dental Medicine in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey.
