Creating a Strategy
STRATEGY & PLANNING Social media is one of the newest channels of communication and everyone wants to join the conversation. But before joining there should be planning involved. It is important to ask yourself before starting an account the following questions:
* What are my communications goals?
* Who is my audience and how can I reach them?
* What is the plan for developing a steady stream of
communication?
* How much time do I have to allocate to social media?
Everyone and every department will answer these questions differently and that is important in developing a customized strategy for your social media presence. You may determine that certain social networks would best meet your goals over others. Maybe Facebook offers you what you are looking for, but Twitter does not. That is ok; because you are looking to leverage the capabilities of a social network to best meet your goals. Once you have made your decision as to whether to continue starting your social media presence it is important to remember to stay on track, maintain your strategy, and develop a consistent voice.
