Charlie Vázquez
Charlie Vázquez is a Bronx-born writer of Cuban and Puerto Rican descent. His first novel, Buzz and Israel, will be re-published in 2013, and his second, Contraband, was published in 2010—both by Rebel Satori Press. He has edited two anthologies of new Latino literature: The Best of PANIC! (Fire King, 2010), which was based on his breakthrough East Village reading series and he served as co-editor with cultural dynamo Charles Rice-González on the genre-reinventing From Macho to Mariposa: New Gay Latino Fiction (Lethe, 2011). He has been published in numerous fiction and non-fiction anthologies.
Charlie is also the author of the bilingual poetry collection Meditations/Meditaciones: Bronx/Salsa (Fire King, 2011) and is the New York City coordinator for Puerto Rico’s Festival de la Palabra. He lives in Brooklyn.
