Meriam "Slim" Rodriguez
Author of Adelina's Perfect Girl was born in New York City, and raised in the Bronx. She has been a prolific writer since the age of 7. Her passion for reading and writing was always inspired by her parents who kept a constant sup ply of books and comic books at her disposal. The desire to write a book of her own took a more definite course of action in the summer of 2011 when she began to take notice of the wave of writers within her own community writing and self publishing important works of art. Her performance pieces include; Manifesto, The Boricua Anthem Re-Invented, Judge-Mental, and her most recent additions to Swimming Upstream To The Rhythms Of Your Heart; A Loving You Compilation. She travelled the country visiting state and city colleges with Latino Flavored Productions in the plays Jose Can Speak and Pink: The Chronicles of BC Jenny. Meriam has also been a member of The NYC Latina Writer's Group since 2010, through which she has met and created with like-minded poets and writers from the underground community. Meriam has travelled and performed at various colleges throughout the country with Latino Flavored Productions. She has also performed at The Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Camaradas, La Pregunta Arts Cafe, The Bowery Poetry Club, HISPANIC PANIC!, and at the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural Center. She is currently working on translations for Adelina's Perfect Girl and bringing her work to a wider audience.
