2016 Best Practices Conference
The Faculty Center for Innovative Teaching and Professional Development is trying something a bit different for this year’s sixth annual Best Practices Conference…or should we say “unconference”?
On Friday, February 26, join the Faculty Center for Innovative Teaching and Professional Development for an innovative discussion on best practices for working within a flipped classroom. This year’s theme, “Flipping the Classroom Without Flipping Out,” will focus on strategies for creating a flipped classroom with promising results.
So what exactly is a “flipped classroom”? According to EduCAUSE.com, a flipped classroom is a pedagogical model in which the typical lecture and homework elements of a course are reversed. Short video lectures are viewed by students at home before the class session, while in-class time is devoted to exercises, projects, and discussions.
To get started, the Faculty Center has set up a collaborative brainstorming tool called Padlet. You can access it and post to it by clicking here.
All you have to do is to double click on the workspace and you will be able to add text or video or links to images. Please post your answers to this question: What kinds of topics should be discussed during the unconference?
