A Brown Bag Lunch Series
This spring, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Office of Affirmative Action, and Pace’s Human Resources Department invite faculty and staff to their brown bag lunch series.
On March 26 and April 30 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., join the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Office of Affirmative Action, and Pace’s Human Resources Department in the 18th floor conference room of One Pace Plaza for the second incarnation of lunchtime discussions centered around the topic of diversity.
“The motivation for doing the first brown bag lunch series was hinged on the responses we received from our 2010 Diversity Campus Climate Survey,” says Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs Denise Belen Santiago, PhD, “When we originally hosted the brown bag lunch series, there was a stream of conversation that at times evoked a solidarity—or in some instances—empathy with our colleagues.”
Four years later, based on the 2013 Diversity Campus Climate Survey results, similar sentiments still exist. For example, some colleagues feel that in order to fit in, they must hide aspects of their identity. Because of this, the second incarnation of the brown bag lunch series will be targeted toward Pace faculty and staff.
For Santiago, she hopes the series will create a space whereby participants can share their sentiments, their perceptions of "the other," their frustrations and resiliency when it comes to the complexities of diversity at Pace and beyond.

These lunchtime round tables encourage faculty and staff to participate in courageous conversations on diversity and to explore a variety of topics, including: navigating diversity in the workplace, identifying our challenges and accomplishments, and whether or not we as an institution are on the road less traveled.
