Convocation 2017

News Story

Summer is here and school is out, but this is what faculty and staff need to know about Convocation on the Pleasantville and New York City campuses and welcoming incoming President Marvin Krislov.

On Tuesday, September 5, Pace University will hold its 10th annual Convocation on both the Pleasantville and New York City campuses. Convocation, the Latin word for “calling together,” brings together first-year students on each campus to introduce them to the Pace Community. This kickoff to the 2017–2018 academic year also marks the very first Convocation address incoming President Marvin Krislov will give to students at Pace University.

Rumit Mehta ’03
Pace University alumnus

Born in Kenya, of Indian descent, and raised in Tanzania, Rumit Mehta ’03 has a unique global perspective and love for travel that is unmatched. Growing up, Mehta often led safaris for friends and colleagues while honing his wildlife-spotting skills in the African bush. Mehta eventually settled in New York City, earning his MBA from Pace University’s Lubin School of Business in 2003, but his passion for travel and adventure persisted. Combining this passion, his upbringing and vast knowledge of Africa and South Asia, and the business acumen he earned at Pace, Mehta founded Immersion Journeys, a boutique travel company that has earned many awards including National Geographic Traveler’s “50 Tours of a Lifetime” for three years.

When it comes to the students’ feelings on Professor Mundy living alongside them in Alumni Hall, Mundy said, “Our students have been so inviting. They’ve gone out of their way to make me feel at home.”
